Example 9

A floor pattern requires tiles that are in the shape of a rhombus.

The manufacturer makes these tiles according to the lengths of

the diagonals. How long is each side of the tile, if the diagonals

are 10 and 16 in?

Solution

 The first thing we know is that the floor pattern is in the form of a rhombus, perpendicular or
parallelogram
 Second we know is the diagonals are 10 and 16

 So, red line = 16 and blue line = 10


 then we divide the two diagonals so that it becomes the radius and that gonna be like this

 Let side of the tile = s


 With using Pytha-gorean Theorem we gonna get
s² = 5² + 8²
s²= 25 + 64
s = √89
s = 9,43
 So, side of the tile if the diagonals are 10 and 16 is 9,43
