Mango
July‐September 2012
o Mango production was estimated at 58,201 mt for July‐September 2012. This
was 2.09 percent lower than the 2011 production of 59,445 mt.
o The drop in production was due to the following:
Lean production of other mango varieties in ARMM; and
Effects of monsoon rains during flowering stage in Western Visayas and
Zamboanga Peninsula.
o The bulk of production this quarter came from the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
o Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao and Zamboanga Peninsula were the top
producers in July‐September period (Figure 4).
o On the average, production for this quarter contributed only 5.4 percent to the
TABLES annual production for the past five (5) years.
o Growth in Carabao mango production was at 4.76 percent, from 43,673 mt in
2011 to 45,753 mt in 2012. This accounted for 78 percent of the total mango
production for the period.
o Output grew as more bearing trees bore fruits in Central Visayas and Northern
Mindanao.

July‐September 2012
o Pineapple production at 624 thousand mt was higher by 6.67 percent from the
2011 record of 585 thousand mt.
o Production increased because of additional areas harvested in Northern
Mindanao and SOCCSKSARGEN.
o Northern Mindanao and SOCCSKSARGEN were the major producers with a
combined share of 89 percent to the country’s pineapple production for the
quarter (Figure 6).
o On the average, the production for the quarter shared 23 percent in the annual
pineapple production for the last five (5) years.
