India to fast track its submarine torpedo launched cruise

missile program
Published April 27, 2022 | By admin

SOURCE: RAUNAK KUNDE / NEWS BEAT / IDRW.ORG.

Indian Navy is planning to drop plans for the vertical launch system (VLS) cells for its
Project-75-I submarine program that could have allowed it to carry Brahmos submarine-
launched cruise missiles, instead, DRDO and the Navy are working on developing high sub-
sonic submarine torpedo launched cruise missiles that will have a range of 1500km and later
can be adapted also on Kalvari-class submarine fleet.
Dropping plans for the VLS system for the Project-75-I submarine program might have been
much to do with the limited numbers of SLCM that are presently available that can be
adopted for the Vertical launch and also due to the limited range of current BrahMos missiles
(450km) system.

RudraM-III: Air-launched ballistic missile or

Hypersonic missile??
Published April 27, 2022 | By admin

SOURCE:  JATIN RAM / FOR MY TAKE / IDRW.ORG

A few weeks ago more details of the RudraM-III became public where the missiles were seen
with hypersonic fixed wings leading to speculations that the RudraM-III is a hypersonic
missile system but the missile can’t be classified as a hypersonic missile even if it can go
hypersonic. Hypersonic is a term used to describe platforms that can travel at speeds above
Mach 5, many ballistic missiles achieve such speeds but that doesn’t mean they can be
classified as hypersonic missiles systems.

RudraM-III seems to be a conventional air-launched ballistic missile that can achieve

hypersonic velocities through a quasi-ballistic flight path that never departs the atmosphere,
and it can maneuver throughout its trajectory to avoid being intercepted. The above
schematic diagram confirms that the RudraM-III will have a single-stage booster that will
propel it after launch from air to high supersonic speeds while the second stage dual-pulse
motor will help it attend low hypersonic speeds while it is carryout final terminal stage
maneuvering.

the Russia-Ukraine conflict, saying the Western powers have been oblivious to the pressing
challenges facing Asia, including last year’s events in Afghanistan and the continuous
pressure on the rules-based order in the region.

You spoke about Ukraine. I remember what happened in Afghanistan where an entire civil
society was thrown under the bus by the world. — S Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister

South Korea emerges as Quad alternative to India

Published April 27, 2022 | By admin

SOURCE: ASIA TIMES
South Korea has long stood out as a geopolitical anomaly – a rising power curiously
punching well below its weight. A long-time US treaty ally, the Northeast Asian nation has at
the same time cultivated extremely cordial, if not at times subservient, relations with
neighboring China, a top trading partner.

Despite being a global economic dynamo and a leading military equipment exporter, South
Korea has remained largely marginal in shaping the geopolitical landscape in its own Asian
neighborhood. Outgoing President Moon Jae-in’s chief foreign policy focus, if not obsession,
has been his largely ineffectual engagement with North Korea, which has shown little
interest in actual disarmament and denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula.

Pakistan toasted brotherly Taliban’s takeover but why

they are bombing each other
Published April 27, 2022 | By admin

SOURCE:  INDIA TODAY

On August 15, 2021, armed Taliban militants posed at President Ashraf Ghani’s adorned desk
in the Afghan presidential palace. Ironically, hanging on the wall behind them was a
painting of Sufi mystic Sabir Shah crowning a kneeling Amad Shah Durrani, regarded as the
modern Afghan founder.

While the world expressed shock over the astonishingly swift fall of Kabul, prominent
Pakistanis raised a toast. They included political parties, senior journalists and retired
generals. But none as overtly as Pakistan’s then Prime Minister Imran Khan who said “the
Afghans have broken the shackles of slavery.” One of his ministers even said India has got an
appropriate gift for its Independence Day.
