1. Penggunaan an-a
 Penggunaan ‘a’
A : sebuah atau sesuatu
 a : if a noun starts with a CONSONANT, use ‘a’.
Example: a table, a soup, a car, a baby, etc.
 If a noun starts with a vowel but it’s pronanciation starts with a consonant, use
‘a’.
Example: a university ( ‘u’ sounds like yu )
 If a noun include adjective or adverb, the same rules apply.
Example: a unique work, a happy child.
Example :
 Your son has grown up already, he just got into a university, right?
 Have you seen the man with a red hoodie?
 This is a uniform
 I saw a cloud shaped like a tree
 Last night i saw a star with my friend

 If noun starts with a CONSONANT, but it’s pronanciation starts with a vowel,
use ‘an’.
Example: an hour ( ‘h’ is silent )
 If a noun include adjective or adverb, the same rules apply.
Example: an interesting day, an honest man
Exampel:
 My brother got into an accident when riding his bike
 Today my lecture give me an apple

 An elephant has long trunk

 Penggunaan Some
Some : beberapa
 Positive sentences and in questions or offers expecting positive answers:
a. Can i borrow some paper?
b. Some trees stay green all year
 Talk in a vague way about a large amount or number, an approximate number
or percentage or thing whose identity is unknown:
1) I will take some time
2) He now lives in some village in Wales
3) That was some 20 yeras ago
 Penggunaan any
Any : beberapa
 Sentences with a negative element; questions when no specific answer is
expected; if clauses:
a. Kely does not have any food
b. Are there any questions?
c. If there are any problems, give me a call
 “If does not matter which one” meaning:
1) Call any time after eight
3. Penggunaan ‘The’
The = itu
 ‘The’ dapat digunakan untuk menjelaskan sesuatu yang spesifik. Biasanya
‘the’ digunakan untuk menjelaskan benda yang hanya ada satu di dunia.
Contoh: the sun, the moon atau the sky.
 Use for specific objects or, example:
a. the man is laughing
b. the ring is on her left hand
 Used when we mention the object again, example:
a. The movie is based on a real-life incident

 Penggunaan Something
  Something artinya sesuatu, hampir mirip dengan someone, hanya saja
something digunakan untuk sesuatu yaitu berupa benda dalam bahasa inggris.
Exampel:
a) Do you have something to eat?
b) I have something to tell you
c) I have something to discuss
d) Do you have something to see?
e) I don’t know something that you miss
 Someone memiliki arti seseorang, digunakan untuk mengidentifikasikan
seseorang. Example:
 Do you have someone special?
 I miss someone who always beside me
 I know you have someone that you love so much
 You know someone who call you tonight?
 I don’t have someone special in my life

Anything : apa saja
 Anything juga merupakan indifinite pronoun dalam bahasa inggris yang
memiliki arti apapun. Example:
 Anything for you
 I can’t do anything for you
 Rini didn’t do anything for you

 Penggunaan anyone
Anyone : siapapun
 Kata anyone merupakan indefinite pronoun atau kata ganti tidak berfefinisi.
Dalam penggunaannya kata anyone lebih umum digunakan untuk writing dan
juga dalam bentuk formal lainnya. Example:
a) I think this today explanation is enough. Does anyone want to ask?
b) Is there anyone who agrees with terorism?
c) Don’t hurt anyone
d) Don’t trust anyone
 e) Don’t call anyone

 Penggunaan Nothing
Nothing : tidak ada apa-apa
 Kata nothing berfungsi untuk menjelaskan keadaan suatu, objek, atau apapun
yang tidak spesifik. Example:
 I said nothing to you
 Nothing is gonna change my love for you
 Nothing is wrong with yourself
 There is almost nothing in your small bag
 Is it important thing? It’s nothing
 Penggunaan No one
No one : tak seorang pun
 Kata no one berfungsi untuk menjelaskan orang (person). Example:
 No one came here, last night
 No one could believe it
 No one is late to learn everything
 No one enjoyed the movie
 Graece saw no one at the park
