In Hindi Aatma = Self , Nirbhar = Dependent and Bharat = India. Hence Aatmanirbhar means
Self dependent India. The first mention of this came in the form of the 'Atmanirbhar Bharata
Abhiyan' or 'Self-Reliant India Mission' during the announcement of the corona virus pandemic
related economic package on 12 May 2020. It was taken by our hounable Prime Minister
Narendra Modi. This mission was taken because of the China – India boarder dispute at Galwan
Valley. Where At least 20 Indian soldiers died, including a colonel. China has not revealed its
casualties, but reliable sources estimate them to be higher than India’s. Satellite images show that
China had been building bunkers, tents and storage units for military hardware near the site of
the clash. The law and IT minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad, said that self-reliance does "Not mean
isolating away from the world. Foreign direct investment is welcome, technology is welcome
self-reliant India translates to being a bigger and more important part of the global economy’’.

The same thing had happened in 1962 where many soldiers had died. So after this dispute, our
Prime Minister has taken the decision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat where we have to support him by
boycotting foreign goods and everything that is not made in India at the best.

After these important steps India is going to be established as a powerful world economy. The
main motto of the movement as specified is to make India a self-reliant nation in terms of
technology, food grains and oil. The campaign focuses on economic development and the
improvement in condition of all citizens in India in terms of goods and products not on entire cut
from the world. Under this MNC can still invest and make technological development in country
but India won’t be dependent on these companies for development or for resources this is the
most important step take in the Indian history to strengthen economy.

Atmanirbhar Bharat has been called by some as a re-packaged version of the Make in

India movement using new taglines such as 'Vocal for Local'. Other opposition members spoke
about how India had enacted policies and built companies since its creation to make India self-
reliant - SAIL for steel production,  IITs for domestic engineers, AIIMS for medical
science, DRDO for defence research, HAL for aviation, ISRO for
space, CCL, NTPC and GAIL in the area of energy; criticizing the advertising tactics. Some have
re-phrased it to "Fend For Yourself" Campaign.

Aatmanirbharat is a great mission to boycott foreign goods and Chinese especially. In this time
many people are breaking their TV’s, goods made of china. Which is completely wrong, we
should understand that if we break our TV’s we are going to get in loss. But if we un-install
Chinese apps they are going to face loss!
