Diagnosis is an essential process in treating a patient; it makes it easy for nurses and

doctors to determine the ideal course of treatment for the patient in question. Moreover, the

findings from a diagnosis influence are the patient's, families, and community's treatment

options. They can be used to develop a treatment plan and track the progress of the patient. A

diagnosis enables a nurse to develop a plan and goals to be met in achieving a patient's health as

it shows the reasons for the patient's pain and what actions should be taken to deal with the pain

(Karaca & Aslan, 2018).

In the past, there have been cases of missing, inaccurate, or delayed diagnoses, and these

always have a significant impact on the quality of healthcare services rendered to the patient.

Health information technology offers solutions meant to reduce these cases in the healthcare

sector. The above article obtained the literature review from several medical journals and

websites such as Web of Science and Pubweb. The research focused on health information

technology systems that had been previously tested at experimental and clinical levels and their

impacts on the diagnosis process (El-Kareh, Hasan, & Schiff, 2013). The study of this system is

still in its initial stage though the few demonstrations have been quite impactful.

The healthcare system has evolved over the years to improve patients' quality of care. A

patient-centered approach is one of the essential changes fostered by technology. Patients are

now able to offer insights into their treatment plans and communicate with clinicians, nurses, and

family members. (Snyder et al., 2019) Medical practitioners can now communicate, keep records

and share patient records with peers using information systems. On the downside, patients are

currently carrying out self-diagnoses utilizing the internet, which could negatively impact the

treatment process; they would have already believed they know what the problem is, which

interferes with the diagnosis process.

Reliable and timely diagnosis, missed diagnoses, and inaccurate diagnoses are major

challenges that face the healthcare sector. The introduction of health information technology

(HIT) tools could help deal with these challenges and thus improve the general quality of

healthcare services offered. With technology, the patient-centered approach would be fostered,

and communication with other medical personnel would be quite easy, making it easy for nurses

to seek second opinions and advisory services from colleagues during consultation.

of diagnosis Increases the accuracy of admission decisions (Edinger et al., 2018).
