About Intuit
Since founded in 1991, Intuit has been Chicago’s only
museum to soley represent raw and self-taught art- and
remains one of the few museums in the world. In the
world of outsider art enthusiasts, Chicago is
renowned as the center for the genre’s recognition.

Intuit’s museum has engaged their audience with raw

artmaking and culture through the perspectives of
unconventional people with self-taught art making
approaches. The museum’s mission is grounded in the
ethos that powerful art can be found in unexpected
places and made by unexpected creators.

Intuit offers world-class exhibitions; a collection of

1,300 works of art; resources for scholars and students,
such as the Robert A. Roth Study Center, a non-circulat-
ing collection with a focus in the fields of outsider and
office

contemporary self-taught art; and educational program-

Beyond a museum for the genre’s representation, my adaptive reimagination projects

modern day Intuit as a local art hub, for art enthusiasts, local artists, and neighbors to
browse around and even participate with its various arts programs- nurturing the
continuation of self-taught artmaking and culture through an ecology of collaboration
opportunities and resources between the museum’s galleries and different user zones.

HOW SHOULD RAW ART BE EXPERIENCED?

questioning how the way we represent
raw art relates to ones understanding of
the genre’s essence is important
considering the art’s unexamined and
spontaneous nature.
