MULTI PROCESS CUTTER

SYNOPSIS

The multi-purpose cutter can be moved any where near the job and can be fitted on

the job. This eliminates the risk of carrying the job to the machine table. This unit is

driven by 0.25 H.P. single phase motor of 1440 rpm. Pulleys are used to reduce this

speed of the machine. This enables the slide to get the reciprocating motion having a

stroke length of 75mm. The cutter (or) blade is welded to the slider at the bottom edge.

In our project, “Multi-purpose Cutter” is used to cut the different material for the

different application.

INTRODUCTION

The multi-purpose cutter can be used to make cutting in work piece without

moving the job to the work table. The blade is used for cutting wooden , fiber and

irregular surfaces both internal and external, for handling large and awkward work

pieces, for cutting internal or external gears and many other operation which cannot be

conveniently machined many other machine.

 WORKING PRINCIPLE

The multi-purpose cutting machine is provided with a “V” pulley of C.I. Slider

having belt drive. This pulley is connected to the motor by a ‘V’ belt. When the motor is

started, the main shaft of the cutter also starts revolving at the same speed. The running

speed is 1440 R.P.M. The rotation will be of vertical direction because of cam

mechanism. The main shaft drives the horizontal shaft. The speed is also reduced in the

ratio of 1: 12. When the main shaft rotates 12 times the horizontal shaft will rotate only

once. The machine enables us to get 12 strokes / minute. The cam is keyed to the

horizontal shaft. The cam is made up of cast iron piece. The link is connected to the cam

stud.
 ADVANTAGES AND LIMITATIONS

ADVANTAGES:

1. The multi-purpose cutter can be moved any where near the job and can be

fitted to the job. This eliminates the risk of carrying the job to the machine

table.

2. This machine can be also be used for cutting small wooden and fiber material

if suitable blade.

LIMITATIONS

1. This machine can be used to make cut only to a smaller depth.

2. Only small cuts should be given at a time.
