Peyton Farber
Peyton Farber has been in Band since 5th grade. Her favorite band memory was getting
a 1 at the state band competition this year. One thing she likes about Band is getting to
play such fun and invigorating music. While in high school, Peyton has been a part of
National Honor Society, Student Council, Girl Talk, Volleyball, Cheerleading, Softball,
and Swimming. She plans on attending the University of Arkansas in the fall to study
Health Sciences on the Pre-PA track.

LETTERS
Earning a Letter in band (and in other activities as well) is an indication that a student
has achieved beyond the standard expectations, both in personal performance and in
bringing recognition to themselves and the school. In recognition of that excellence,
Letters in US Band are presented to the following students:

JOHN PHlLIP SOUSA AWARD

Since its inauguration in 1954, the John Philip Sousa Award for Band has been given to
thousands of outstanding high school students for superior musicianship, leadership,
dependability, and loyalty. The Sousa Award is the most prestigious award for high school band
students, In addition to the award, the recipient’s name is engraved upon a plaque, which hangs
on the wall of the band room, exemplifying that person’s commitment and leadership year after
year.
