1. Definition of electric field vector. Define the electric field vector


due to a line of total charge Q at a point that lies along the line and
in the axis of symmetry of line. The concept of electric dipole and
electric dipole moment vector. Force, torque, and potential energy
of dipole in external field.
2. Electric flux and formulation of Gauss law. By applying the law,
determine electric field inside and outside of a non-conducting
sphere and a non-conducting cylindre (both with uniform charge
density).
3. Definition of electric potential. Derive the equation that expresses
the

relation between electric field vector and elecric potential
E   gradV .
4. The formula for the force on a charge moving in magnetic field 
(Lorentzforce). Applying this formula, calculate the force dF on a
length dl of current-carying wire in magnetic field.
5. Definition of magnetic dipole moment of a current loop. Derive
equation for the torque on a current loop in an uniform magnetic
field. Define potential energy of a magnetic dipole in magnetic
field.

between: a. the voltage and the current across a resistor; b. the
voltage on capacitor and the current through a capacitor; c. the
voltage and the current through an inductor. Phasor diagram for
every mentioned case.
8. Phasor diagram of LCR circuit with AC source. Using phasor
diagram, calculate the impedance of circuit and the phasor angle
(the angle between two vectors that represent source emf and circuit
current).
9. Maxwell’s statement on the concept of displacement current and
the modified Amper law. Maxwell’s equations and the
corresponding laws.
10. Derive the equation that relates ideal gas pressure to average
translational kinetic energy of molecular motions. The Maxwell-
Boltzmann distribution function of molecular speeds. Three types of
average speed of molecules.
11. The internal energy of ideal gas. The principle of equipartition of
energy. By using the principle, determine the average kinetic energy
of molecules and the internal energy of ideal gas.
12. The first law of thermodynamics. By applying the law derive the
relation of constant-volume and constant-pressure capacities of an
ideal gas. The change of internal energy, work and heat in
isothermal and adiabatic processes of an ideal gas.
13. Definition of the Carnot cycle. Heat and mechanical work in every
step of a Carnot cycle. The final result of one cycle in the direct and
reverse way.
14. Definition of entropy. Entropy change in a reversible Carnot cycle
and in an arbitrary reversible cyclic process. Three ways for
formulating the second law of thermodynamics.
