May 2006, Zidane, who had announced his plans to retire
after the 2006 World Cup,[44] played his farewell match

he was ineligible to play for the Algerian national team.

ing that he would have been ineligible to play for Algeria
because he had already played for France.[47]

Fernández (born in Aveyron of Spanish descent),[134]
