Recently, Amest has been designing products containing PICmicro® microcontroller processors. One
current design uses three PICmicro MCUs that communicate with each other via infrared. Those three then
communicate to another PICmicro MCU via RF. Another design involves using a PICmicro MCU processor
as a wireless pager that was incorporated into a minivan. Still another application uses a PICmicro MCU
processor to read and display three-axis position information on a LCD display real-time.

What distinguishes Ten X? Out-sourcing has elicited substantial corporate interest because of its proven
time and cost advantage. However, not all companies providing out-source engineering support, or Custom
Design and Engineering, actually deliver these benefits. Some of them focus on specific niches in hardware
design, software development, or contract manufacturing in solitude. This leaves the customer with the
burden of contracting, managing, and co-ordinating multiple out-source firms. Ten X Technology not only
provides combined expertise in all these areas, but also offers complete manufacturing services, research,
industrial design and allied abilities in an effort to offer total turn-key solutions to all your engineering
demands, either specified or conceptual.
Ten X has the advantage of a "big picture" approach during the design process, with issues related to
production, approvals, and reliability considered up-front. With the extremely diverse and unique projects
Ten X has undertaken, it has also accumulated the experience and know-how to handle the most
challenging of projects with relative ease. Over the past 15 years, Ten X has evolved a customer-specific
approach to accomplishing projects, planning the scope of the project to fit the constraints imposed. 90%
of our business comes form repeat customers, a real testimony to Ten X as an engineering and
manufacturing resource.

Laurie Klyne has 15 years experience designing a wide range of PICmicro® microcontroller applications.
By designing both hardware and software as one integrated system Laurie can optimize their interface,
resulting in simple, low component-count hardware. Laurie has designed a wide range of both Domestic
and Industrial products from Speech and Sound based Toys to industrial control systems involving as many
as nine PICmicro microcontrollers working together to manage the various aspects of a complex system.
His more recent projects include: A domestic shower controller able to maintain its output temperature to
+/-.5 degrees C in the face of a wide range of input flow fluctuations. Hydraulic Lift Controller, Automatic
Dimmer Switch, Dart Scorer, Joy Sticks, Mice and Roller Balls, Weighing Systems, Car Alarm, Data Logger,
Package Labeling System. Domestic Steam Bath. The above projects involve the use of Stepper Motors,
Inverter Driven Motors, a wide range of Input Systems and Sensors, Output and Display Systems. The
harsher industrial environments have pushed Laurie toward developing various self-recovery and noise
immunity systems, which make for robust software.

P. B. Micro Designs provides a complete design service for the hardware and software of embedded
microcontroller based systems. A range of software and hardware skills are combined to ensure that a
customers’ design is taken from outline description through detailed software and hardware specification,
implementation, test and final delivery within a realistic time scale and at a competitive price.
Recent development projects have used a broad range of 16 and 17 family parts in the implementation of
’black box’ controllers, hand held data loggers, mobile radio interfaces, security equipment and mains borne
signaling systems. An important part of the service offered is to convert the outline ideas of the customer
into a fully documented specification prior to starting work thus ensuring that all designs fully meet the
customers requirements. In most cases projects have been taken from an outline description through to
final delivery to the customer within 12 to 16 weeks with development being carried out in High Wycombe
or on customer’s premises.

Established in 1976, our design experience with microprocessors has run through Z80, 6502, the 8032
series, 80C16X and, since the mid-90’s, our concentration is now on the entire PICmicro® microcontroller
range. In fact, most of our products have the benefit of PICmicro microprocessor control to minimize costs 9
and enhance features.
We design and manufacture electronics for process-control & instrumentation applications. We are used to

working both the rigorous demands of Nuclear Industry and the cost-consciousness of the Security sector.

Design
The service we offer extends from writing code writing to complete product design, development &
manufacture.
Our manufacturing facility produces anything from prototype quantities to bulk production runs of many
thousand units. Although we cover all industries, we have considerable experience in drinks-dispense,
coolers, shower/jacuzzi, water-treatment, light and security-alarm controllers.
We specialize in a close liaison with our customers throughout a project to ensure that the final product
comes to market swiftly and exceeds expectations. We very often work with clients who have little 8
knowledge of what is possible with a microcontroller and therefore, with consultation in the early design
stages we can give advice on maximizing product potential. We are very user-friendly.
