Practical Research 1
Module 2
ACTIVITIES

1. Answer the following questions:

a. What is the difference between sample and population? - The whole group
about whom you wish to make conclusions is referred to as a population. A
sample is a subset of the population from which you will gather data. The
sample size is always smaller than the population's overall size. A population
in research does not usually relate to humans.

b. Some people have argued that no population can ever be

studied in its entirety. Would you agree? Why or why not? - I agree that no single
population can ever be researched completely. It is technically conceivable, but it is
tiresome and would consume much too much of our time. There is really too much
variation to incorporate in a study. Some data may be duplicated within the
population, thus it's a huge no in terms of convenience.

2. Determine the population and sample of each research studies below.

POPULATION
1. all medical workers who helped in the Philippines during the Covid19 epidemic
2. Minors in the Bridges of Hope recovery program who have struggled with
alcoholism.
3. RainTree Care Services and Senior Residences serve all retired adults over the age
of 65.
4. Students that excel academically at Rizal High School.
5. KinderCrib Learning and Childcare Center's nursery pupils.

SAMPLE

1. Each island group is represented by 10% of medical staff who reacted during the
COVID-19 outbreak.
2. In the Bridges of Hope Rehabilitation Center, half of the minors who struggled with
alcoholism.
3. 5% of retirees over the age of 65 live in a retirement home.
4. Section Harmony Award Winners at Rizal High School
5. KinderCrib Learning and Childcare Center pupils from Section Nursery A.

3. Choose a qualitative research design then think of a certain research

topic using this research design. Determine your population, sample
and effective sample size. Use the format below as your guide.

Research Design: Phenomenological Research

Research Topic: During the COVID-19 epidemic in the Philippines, a
phenomenological study of the lives of the less fortunate in Nabunturan was
conducted.
Population: All of Nabunturan's less fortunate residents.
Sample: In Nabunturan, there are ten less disadvantaged households.
Sample Size: In Nabunturan, the Fernandez family.
