Tidal flooding

• Also called coastal flooding.

• Temporary inundation of coastal areas during exceptionally high tides or storm surges.

• Occurs when tides reach from 1.75 to 2 feet above the daily

Storm surges

• Coastal phenomenon.

• Abnormal rise in the sea level generated by a storm - over

• Cyclone provides the driving force - very high horizontal


pressure-gradient and very strong surface winds.

• Climate change and the resultant sea-level rise
