Cấu trúc 1: Chỉ sự trái ngược

Although/Though Danh từ
+ mệnh đề Despite / In spite of + Cụm danh từ
Even though Danh động từ

Ví dụ:
- Câu gốc: Although the sun was shining, it wasn't very warm.
- Câu mới: Despite / In spite of the sunshine, it wasn't very warm.

Cấu trúc 2: Chỉ nguyên nhân

Because of / As a result of Danh từ

Because / Since / As + mệnh đề + Cụm danh từ
Due to /Thanks to Danh động từ

Ví dụ:
- Câu gốc: Because he behaved badly, he must be punished.
- Câu mới: As a result of his bad behavior, he must be punished.

Cấu trúc 3: Câu điều kiện

1. Mệnh đề 1 + so + Mệnh đề 2 1. If + Mệnh đề 1, Mệnh đề 2

2. Mệnh đề 1 + because + Mệnh đề 2 2. If + Mệnh đề 2, Mệnh đề 1
(Hiện tại/quá khứ) (Quá khứ đơn/quá khứ hoàn thành)

Ví dụ:
1. Câu gốc: They didn’t catch the early train so they weren’t here by now.
Câu mới: They would have been here by now if they had caught the early train.

2. Câu gốc: He can’t do the exam because it is too difficult.

Câu mới: If the test weren’t too difficult, he could do it.
Cấu trúc 4: Câu điều kiện với “unless”

If + mệnh đề phủ định (not) Unless ...

Ví dụ:
- Câu gốc: If it doesn’t rain, we will go to the cinema this evening.
- Câu mới: Unless it rains, we will go to the cinema this evening.

Cấu trúc 5: Quá... đến nỗi mà...

S + to be + SO + adj + THAT ... It + to be + SUCH + cụm danh từ + THAT ...

Ví dụ:
- Câu gốc: The film was so good that I saw it many times.
- Câu mới: It was such a good film that I saw it many times.

Cấu trúc 6: Quá... để làm gì

TOO... / ENOUGH... + to-infinitive SO ... THAT / SUCH ... THAT

Ví dụ:
- Câu gốc: The box was too heavy for her to carry.
- Câu mới: It was such a heavy box that she couldn’t carry.

Cấu trúc 7: Đủ hay chưa đủ để làm gì

S + to be + Adj + ENOUGH ... + to-infinitive S+ to be + TOO + Adj + to-infinitive

Ví dụ:
- Câu gốc: He isn’t old enough to drive motorbike.
- Câu mới: He is too young to drive motorbike.

Cấu trúc 8:

To-infinitive + to be + Adj/Noun S + V+ it + Adj/Noun + to-infinitive

Ví dụ:
- Câu gốc: To live an independent life must be strong.
- Câu mới: I find it strong to live an independent life.
Cấu trúc 9:

1. S + last + V (quá khứ) ... when ...

S + have/has not + V3/ed... + since (for)...
2. The last time + S + was ...

Ví dụ:
1. Câu gốc: I haven’t seen him since I was a student.
Câu mới: I last saw him when I was a student.

2. Câu gốc: I haven’t heard him since October.

Câu mới: The last time I heard him was in October.

Cấu trúc 10:

S + V (hiện tại hoàn thành) ... + time It is + time + since + S + V (quá khứ)

Ví dụ:
- Câu gốc: Matthew and Mary have been married for three years.
- Câu mới: It’s three years since Matthew and Mary were married.

Cấu trúc 11: Câu tường thuật dạng bị động

People/They V1 It is/was V3/ed (của V1) + that +

(say/believe/know/think…) + ...that S + V2 + …
+S + V2 +...

Ví dụ:
- Câu gốc: They believe that thieves got in through the kitchen window.
- Câu mới: It is believed that thieves got in through the kitchen window.

Cấu trúc 12: Chỉ sự kết quả

S cause sth Sth is the result of S

Ví dụ:
- Câu gốc: Air pollution causes ill health in human beings.
- Câu mới: Ill health in human beings is the result of air pollution.
Cấu trúc 13:

It takes sb + khoảng thời Sb spend + khoảng thời gian +

gian + to do sth doing sth

Ví dụ:
- Câu gốc: It took her 30 minutes to do this task.
- Câu mới: She spent 30 minutes doing this task.

Cấu trúc 14: Thay đổi từ loại

S + find sth + adj S have adj  Noun prep sth

Ví dụ:
- Câu gốc: Many people find watching TV interesting.
- Câu mới: Many people have interest in watching TV.

Cấu trúc 15: Prefer… would rather

1. Prefer sb to do sth 1. Would rather sb did sth

2. Prefer doing sth to doing sth 2. Would rather do sth than do sth

Ví dụ:
1. Câu gốc: I prefer you not to tell anyone about this.
Câu mới: I would rather you didn’t tell anyone about this.

2.
Câu gốc: I prefer going out for a walk to staying at home.
Câu mới: I would rather go out for a walk than stay at home.

Cấu trúc 16: Đảo ngữ

As soon as S + V2/ed, S + V2/ed Hardly had S + V3/ed when S + V2/ed

Ví dụ:
- Câu gốc: As soon as he approached the house, the policeman stopped him.
- Câu mới: Hardly had he approached the house when policeman stopped him.
Cấu trúc 17:

Ví dụ:
- Câu gốc: You had to get approval from every member of the tribe before you got
married.
- Câu mới: You had to have support from every member of the tribe before you got
married.

Cấu trúc 18: tăng số lượng

There are more sth than sth Sth outnumber sth

Ví dụ:
- Câu gốc: There are more women than men.
- Câu mới: Woman outnumber men.

Cấu trúc 19: Không những... mà còn

S + V not only… but also… S + V both… and…

Ví dụ:
- Câu gốc: He not only read this book but also remember what he had read.
- Câu mới: He both read this book and remember what he had read.

Cấu trúc 20: Câu cảm thán

What + a/an + adj + N It’s such a/an + adj + N

Ví dụ:
- Câu gốc: What an amazing kitchen.
- Câu mới: It’s such an amazing kitchen.
