CITY OF HUNTSVILLE PROCLAMATION In Recognition of Fair Housing Month WHEREAS, April marks the anniversary of the signing of the National Fair Housing Act, Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, providing that it shall be unlawfal to discriminate against any person in terms, conditions, or privileges of the sale or rental of a dwelling or in the provision of services or facilities in connection therewith of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability or familial status; and WHEREAS, the City of Huntsville supports the efforts of the Federal Government and the State of Alabama to assure equal access to housing opportunities for all citizens; and WHEREAS, the City of Huntsville supports programs that will educate the public concerning their rights to equal housing opportunities and to participate in efforts with other organizations to assure every person their right to fair housing. NOW THEREFORE, I, Tommy Battle, Mayor and the City Council of Huntsville, AL do hereby declare April 2022 as a month to celebrate and honor all efforts, which guarantee the right to live free of discriminatory housing practices and proclaim this month as FAIR HOUSING MONTH DATED this the fourteenth day of April, 2022 STATE OF ALABAMA MADISON COUNTY RESOLUTION OF THE MADISON COUNTY COMMISSION 2 will mark the 54# anniversary of the passage of the United States Fair vil Rights Act of 1968, which enunciated a National Policy of fair housing on, sex, national origin, familial status and disability; and WHEREAS, April 11, Housing Law, Title VIII of the without regard to race, color, rel WHEREAS, the effective implementation of the National Policy depends on affirmative action at all levels of Government. MADISON COUNTY GOMMISSION ATTEST: PROCLAMATION FAIR HOUSING MONTH WHEREAS, April 11, 2022, marks the 54° anniversary of the passage of the Fair Housing Act, Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended, which enunciates a national policy of Fair Housing without regard to race, color, religion, sex, familial status, handicap and national origin, and encourages fair housing opportunities for al; and WHEREAS, The Huntsville Area Association of REALTORS®, is committed to highlighting the Fair Housing Act by continuing to address discrimination in our community, to support programs that will educate the public about the right to equal housing opportunities, and to plan partnership efforts with other organizations to help assure everyone of their right to fair housing; and WHEREAS, the City of Madison, has adopted the Fair Housing Act Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, which prohibits discrimination in housing on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, familial status, handicap and national origin; and WHEREAS, fair housing is a positive community good; and economic stabili community health, and human relations in all communities are improved by diversity and integration; and WHEREAS, Fair Housing is integral to the ethical commitment of members of the National Association of REALTORS® and the Huntsville Area Association of REALTORS® and is critical to the ability of all real estate professionals to serve their clients, customers and communities; and WHEREAS, acts of housing discrimination and barriers to equal housing opportunity are repugnant to a common sense of decency and fairness. NOW, THEREFORE, 1, Paul Finley, Mayor of the City of Madison, Alabama do hereby proclaim the month of APRIL 2022 As FAIR HOUSING MONTH to establish Madison as an inclusive community committed to fair housing and to promote appropriate activities by private and public entities intended to provide or advocate for equal housing opportunities for all residents and prospective residents of Madison.
