Read Aloud with Comprehension & Tier 2 Word Omega did not enjoy this book as much as the book last week. I personally love this book and I thought he would find it funny, but he seemed a little out A Porcupine Named Fluffy by Helen Lester of it this session. We did not look too deep into the tier two word this time. Tier 2 Word: delighted When I read delighted in the book, I asked him if he knew what that meant Comprehension Strategy: Problem and Solution and he said no and automatically started trying to turn the page. At the end of the story, I asked him if he could tell me the problem in the story and he gave Writing me an answer of Fluffy and Hippo being best friends, which was far from the correct answer. Ask him to write a sentence about his favorite part of the story and draw a picture that matches his sentence. I again had to coach Omega through writing a sentence like last week. He tends to want to copy a sentence straight from the book or copy words like Student Reads "Fluffy" or "porcupine". After working through some letters and some word study, I would like to work more on his ability to write and form a sentence. For You Look through book and find words he knows already. For You is Omega's class story they are working on right now. When we Read story together once. initially looked through the book, he was unable to initially identify any He reads by himself once. words aside from I and a. Omega was unable to read this story alone, so I tried to read a sentence and have him repeat me. This was unsuccessful, so I Word Study read a word and then he would repeat me. Then we would go back to the beginning of the sentence and read the entire sentence. Give him a sheet with a gumball machine drawn on it. Each gumball will contain a letter, mainly focusing on the letters h and Omega did really well with this word study activity. I initially wanted to work n. I will tell him to x-out a certain letter, He will look through on the letters h and n with Omega because he struggled to identify these each gumball letter and x-out that given letter to focus on during the assessments. However, with this activity he was able to identify all identifying letters. of the letters with ease. I plan to try another word study activity that focuses on h and n to see how he does. Repeated Reading Instead of rereading Omega's book For You, his teacher left another book she Reread For You asked me to read with him titled "Animals". This book contained more words, 1. I read a sentence, he repeats. but still included his sight words for this week (for and have). 2. I read a sentence, he reads a sentence. 3. He reads entire book.
