Liturgy Wedding With Songs
Liturgy Wedding With Songs
Minister – Friends, we are gathered in the sight of God to witness and bless
the union of Jerick and Caroline in Christian Marriage. The covenant of
marriage was established by God, who created us male and female for each
other. With His presence and power, Jesus graced a wedding at Cana of
Galilee, and his sacrificial love gave us example for the love of husband and
wife. Jerick and Caroline come to give themselves to one another in this holy
covenant.
WORDS WITH THE COUPLE
M – I require and charge you both Jerick and Caroline as you stand in the
presence of God, in whom the secrets of all hearts are disclosed that having
fully considered the holy covenant you are about to make, you now declare
before this congregation your pledge of love, faith and commitment to each
other.
M – Jerick and Caroline, nothing is easier than saying words and nothing is
harder than living them day by day. What you promise today will be renewed
tomorrow and day after day. At the end of this ceremony, legally you will be
husband and wife, but you must still decide each day that stretches out
before you that you want to be married.
DECLARATION OF INTENTION
M – I ask you Jerick and Caroline, in the presence of God and these people to
declare your intention to enter into union with one another through the grace
of Jesus Christ, who calls you into union with Himself as acknowledged in your
baptism.
M – Jerick will you have Caroline, to be your wife, to live together in Holy
Marriage? Will you love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and
in health, and forsaking all others, be faithful to her as long as you both shall
live?
Jerick – with God’s help, I will.
M – Caroline, will you have Jerick to be your husband, to live together in Holy marriage?
Will you love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health, and
forsaking all others, be faithful to her as long as you both shall live?
Caroline – with God’s help, I will.
RESPONSE OF THE FAMILIES AND THE CONGREGATION
M – The marriage of – Jerick and Caroline unites their families and creates a new one.
They ask for your blessing.
Parents – We rejoice in your union and pray for God’s blessing upon you.
Minister to congregation – Will all of you, by God’s grace do everything in your power
to uphold and care for Jerick and Caroline in their marriage?
Congregation – We will.
THE PRAYER
INTERCESSORY PRAYER
M – Eternal God, creator and preserver of all life, author of salvation, giver of grace,
bless and sanctify with your Holy Spirit Jerick and Caroline, who come now to join in
marriage. Grant that they may give their vow to each other in the strength of your
steadfast love. Enable them to grow in love and peace with you and with one another all
their days that they may reach out in concern and service to the world, through Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen.
Song: Two Becoming one ( Christian and Debbie)
M – Through the ages, the wedding ring is treasured not because of what it
contains and what it is worth but because of the unending love it symbolizes. They
are then the outward and visible sign of inward and spiritual grace signifying to us
the union of – Jerick and Caroline as husband and wife. Every time you see these
rings, you will be reminded of this special moment and your vow to each other.
M – Let us pray. Bless, O Lord, the giving of these rings that Jerick and
Caroline who wear them may live in your grace and continue in your favor all the
days of their lives, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Jerick – I give you this ring Caroline, as a sign of my vow. It is endless, knows no
bounds as my love for you. With all that I am, and all that I have, I honor you, in
the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Caroline – I give you this ring Jerick, as a sign of my vow. It is endless, knows no
bounds as my love for you. With all that I am, and all that I have, I honor you, in
the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
VEIL CEREMONY
M – The veil is the symbol of God’s grace, care and protection that envelope a
couple’s whole being. It is placed on your shoulder Jerick as it symbolizes your
willingness to accept responsibilities and the obligations of a husband and later a
father of a family. Caroline, the veil is placed on your head because you should
support your husband’s plans and the welfare of your family. Honor him in mutual
esteem and love.
CORD CEREMONY
M – The cord is placed over your heads as a symbol of God’s immeasurable love
which binds you as one, united in Him. Jerick and Caroline this symbol speaks of
the eternal reality that in marriage, you now become one, bound by a tie, which
cannot be broken by your fellow men.
M – A Christian home has an open Bible which serves as a daily guide as well as a
source of inspiration. This Bible contains the word of God. Read and study it both
of you, to know the truth that will guide your conjugal and parental
responsibilities. As you study it together, may you grow closer to God and to each
other. May you be able to fulfill your duties as responsible parents to your children
that God will give you, and share to others what you have learned from it, by
words and by example.
M – Dear Godparents, Jerick and Caroline look up to you with great respect and
love and see in you the embodiment of the kind of persons they wish to emulate.
May you continue to be examples of faith, kindness, understanding, love, justice,
equality, and of service to mankind. May God guide and help you.
