I. Week 2 – Narrative Report

Learning is a growth that we need to adopt. On the other hand, learning is more than
merely discovering new things. It makes no difference how or when the individual began
learning. This process is the acquisition of new knowledge that will substantially impact our
well-being. Learning new skills and approaches is critical since learning permits an individual to
have productive interactions with others. Learning is not as simple as it may sound. As we dig
deeper into this narrative, three specific theories may guide us throughout our learning journey.

On week 2. March 25, 2022, one in the afternoon, our instructor who is Professor Gloria
Ramos sent a google meet link for our first discussion in Health Education. The first thing that
we did is to check our attendance and make a clarification in the registrar for our two old
students. Last meeting, Professor Ramos told us that we are going to report each topic based on
our capabilities and learning. In today’s meeting, she divided the topics, and we are the ones who
is going to pick our group. According to her, it should be a give and take process. It is more
likely that we are not just going to learn from her, but she will also learn from us. What we have
discussed today is all about Learning Theories Related to Health Care Practice that involves
Behaviorist, Cognitive, and Social. We learn not just with ourselves but to other people as well.
In Behaviorist Theory, this is how we response in a situation with understanding, learned through
interactions, and emotions that leads to behavioral responses. For what our instructor said, in a
community, people are not interested but if we offer them something they are on the place early
as possible. Next to the theory is Cognitive Theory, with this, we should know their culture and
values. We should be responsible in anything that we are doing. To enhance learning, it describes
how internal and external variables influence an individual's mental processes. Lastly, the Social
Learning Theory, we should be the one who set a good example with the people around us. This
theory explains how people are influenced and how they can affect the environment.
Furthermore, Professor Ramos discussed about the Developmental Stages of the learners across
the lifespan and are divided into nine stages. Through those nine stages, we learn one step at a
time. As we grow older, we developed ourselves, the way we think, experienced different things
and perspectives in life, and most importantly, the knowledge and wisdom we acquired as we
live. With all that we have tacked, Professor Ramos made her first teaching in our section
effectively. We were able to comprehend the topics because the explanation was simple and not
complicated. In addition, we must be a good listener, be a role model, and always think of the
patient’s safety. Our instructor also said that as an aspiring nurse, we should take care of them
from womb to tomb.
People must have a learning mindset and the eagerness to finish their business so they
can learn after all. No matter how complicated things are, learning is the positive side of
everything. Failure or obstacles should not stop someone from learning. Every must embark to
their mind that the learning process continues and never stops.
