BASIC RATES OF MATERIALS
NOTES
(I) All the rates in this chapter are for Materials at the source except where specific otherwise.
(II)The rates are for the purpose of analyzing the rates, and not for obtaining supplies from market, which shall be
contained after calling competitive tenders or quotations. In case of bricks and tiles, the tendered rates shall not be
more than controlled rates, fixed by the Deputy Commissioner of the respective districts, the Food and Supplies
Department, of Haryana State.
(III)The rates for item Nos. 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3, include the cost of land and water. In case where land and water is
give by Government, free of cost, the rates shall be suitably reduced.
(IV) The rates of Portland cement, in item no. 3.12 is for analysis and not for the purpose of issuing cement to
contractors. The issue rate for cement shall be fixed by the Executive Engineer after taking into account, any extra
lead, involved from railway station.
(V) The size of bricks in item Nos. 3.1 and 3.2 will be 22.86 cm X 11.11. cm X 6.83 cm and tiles for item no. 3.3
wil be:-
(i) 30.48 cm X 15.24 cm X 5.08 cm
(ii) 22.86 cm X 11.43 cm X 3.81 cm
(VI)Two classes of rates of paint have been provided in this chapter for estimating purpose only. Firstly, for first
quality paint of best quality of reputed firms such as Goodless-Nerolac, Berger, Garware, Jenson Nicholsen, Asian
and Shalimar etc. In the trade mark of Nerolac, Luxury Eomite/Garcoat, Brolac, Apcolite and superlock
respectively or its equivalent are considered as a quality rates of paint and secondly second quality paints of reputed
firms in the trade mark of Glossolite, Parrot, Kinglac, Jensolin, Three mangoes and Durolac or its equivalent and
I.S main paints are considere second quality rates of paints.
(VII) Unless specified to the contrary, the labour rates for various items of construction include handling of
materials within 100 metres. The Through rates include all rehanolling of material at the site of work, and no
payment is due to the contractors on this account.
