    Odour Elimination at Sewage Pumping Station Chennai Metro,


    Anna Nagar, Chennai

    Sewage pumping station-B at Anna Nagar,


    Chennai, belongs to Chennai Metro Water
    Supply and Sewerage Board. The pumping
    station pumps around 60-70 KLD of sewage daily.
    The untreated sewage produces foul odour.
    Bioxgreen was approached to provide a suitable
    solution for foul odour.

    The foul odour of untreated sewage was mainly


    due to the generation of hydrogen sulphide gas
    and also the decomposition of volatile fatty acids.
    The wastewater in the wet well (6 M diameter
    and 12.5 M depth) of sewage pumping station
    contains a very high amount of organics that
    underwent rapid anaerobic degradation, leading
    to generation of hydrogen sulphide gas. The
    levels of hydrogen sulphide during the pumping
    activity varied from 35 to 57ppm which is very
    high than the permissible limit of 5ppm. This
    poses health hazards to workers at the facility as
    well as people residing in the premises close to
    the pumping station.

    Bioxgreen provides turnkey solutions to meet the


    customer's needs. The odour removal of sewage
    was carried out using odour control agent, Stink
    Kill-BXGE 0301, developed by Bioxgreen. Stink
    Kill-BXGE 0301, is very efficient in eliminating the
    obnoxious hydrogen sulphide odour and
    improving the oxygen level thereby improving
    the air quality.
