UPMC LEMIEUX-
VIDEO
From December 31, 2021 to January
2nd, 2022, I operated the live stats of
four games for the division I women's
hockey teams present at the Battle in
the 'Burgh, located at the UPMC
Lemieux Sports Complex. I chose this
opportunity because as a women's
hockey player myself, I am always
willing to help out my community.
From this experience, I learned that I
might be interested in pursuing a
communications major, where I could
make a living out of operating the live
stats for various sports teams, as well as
their social media accounts. Though I
was tired from playing in my own
games earlier in the days, I was still
eager to honor the commitment I
made to women's hockey. OUTREACHED ARMS
For two Tuesdays in March, a few of my
teammates and I spent a couple hours at a
soup kitchen in downtown Pittsburgh,
where we organized donated clothes and fed
the homeless. This experience changed my
perspective of life and made me more
grateful for all of the little blessings and
opportunities that I often fail to appreciate.
Volunteering at Outreached Arms made me
want to be less selfish and more involved
with those who need help in this world.

SAINT KILIAN
PARISH FISH FRY
On a Saturday morning in March, two
teammates, along with myself,
volunteered at the Saint Kilian Parish
Fish Fry. There, I washed dishes, sifted
through breadcrumbs, organized
auction papers, and placed stickers on
hundreds of takeout boxes that were
set to be delivered later that day.
Through this opportunity, I realized
that just a few productive hours a day
can really change the trajectory of the
way your week is going to go. I noticed
that volunteering made me happier
because I liked the feeling of helping
other people and being a part of
something actually meaningful,
something greater than myself.

PROJECT SOUP
From April 19, 2022 to April 21, 2022, I
volunteered at a soup kitchen, where I
helped homeless people and low income
families shop for their groceries.
Volunteering here made me realize how
different life could be as a kid who grew up
in the city. How easily it could've been my
family walking through the doors for some
food and water. Before this year, I never
intentionally did any community service.
However, moving forward, I can confidently
and proudly say that I will try and continue
my service work throughout the rest of my
life. I'd like to think that if I ever needed it, I
would be able to turn to non-profit
organizations like the ones mentioned today
to help me get back on my feet. Therefore,
the least I can do is show up when I can for
those who need help right now.
