WCCG ENDURANCE SERIES

WCCG is a Cycling Club formed in June 2012, with a vision to Make Chennai, the Cycling Capital of the
World. WCCG organizes Group Rides with an aim to provide a planned opportunity for cyclists of
comparable skill levels or aspirations to ride together, provide additional flexibility in selecting the
course, distance, and start time with the additional safety that a well-organized group inherently
generates. Cycling on the public roads has some inherent danger attached, but as a club WCCG aims
to support and encourage people to ride safely and enjoyably, respecting their fellow riders and other
road users.

WCCG has innovated ENDURANCE SERIES which is a set of Long Distance Challenges that must be
accomplished successfully within the prescribed time limit and in accordance with the Rules and
Regulations mentioned herein under.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:


1. The WCCG ENDURANCE SERIES is a Non Competitive Distance Challenge open to all
Amateur Cyclist who are above the age of 18 years and are medically fit to endure Long
Distance Rides. There are no Rankings awarded to the riders based on Finish Times.
2. The Riders should use a Human Powered Bicycle to participate. Any Electrical, Electronic,
Battery / Remote Operated vehicles are not allowed. Use of Tandem Bicycles are allowed.
3. Riders should register on the Chennai Cyclists web portal when the registrations open up.
The registration fees is Non Transferable and Non Refundable. The Events will have limited
slots and the registrations will close once the slots are Full or on the Last Date of Registration
whichever occurs earlier. Request for Last minute entries will not be entertained. Incase the
event is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances the Registration Fees will be refunded
to the respective riders. Riders riding on Tandem bikes will have to register individually and
will have individual bib cards.
4. Riders must sign “Waiver of Liability” Form before the start of the event.
5. During the Event each Rider is considered to be on his personal ride.

6. The Riders must obey and abide by the traffic rules and should not ride in any manner which
may block or cause obstruction to the flow of traffic. The riders can ride in a peloton
formation drafting the fellow riders. Drafting behind any motor vehicle is dangerous and will
be considered as violation.
7. If any rider is found riding under the influence of Alcohol, they will be immediately
disqualified.
8. Neither the Organizers nor any of the representatives of WCCG can be held responsible for
any untoward incidents or accidents that may occur during the course of the event.
9. Riders must ensure that their bicycles are mechanically sound and are recently serviced prior
to the start of the event.
10. The use of Aero Bars is strictly prohibited.
11. Riders should be self sufficient and should carry the required tools & spares such as tubes,
puncture tubes, mini pumps etc. Riders should be able to fix any mechanical issues all by
themselves and should not rely on the organisers or trouble fellow riders to help them out.
12. The Riders must wear their protective gears properly. Wearing of Helmets and Reflective
vests are mandatory.
13. Each Rider must have headlights which have minimum 100 lumens and Tail light with
minimum 30 lumens intensity. The riders should ensure that the lights have sufficient back
up for use between dusk to dawn and during low visibility conditions like heavy rains / fog.
14. The riders should carry batteries and powerbanks to ensure that their mobile phones and
other electronic gadgets works without failure during the entire duration of the event.
15. The riders should not rely on external aids such as follow on cars. Use of any Follow on Car
will lead to disqualification of the Rider.
16. Before the start of the event the riders will be provided with Bib cards, GPX Route file and
Location of Control Points with Open/Close Times. Riders are not supposed to deviate from
the route plan. In case of any inadvertent deviation the rider should return back to the spot
from where they strayed away and resume their ride as per Orginal ride plan.
17. Bib Card is an important document which records the riders details at each Control Point.
Loss of Bib Cards or damages due to rain or sweat or any tamper with the Control Point
timings will lead to disqualification.
18. The riders must finish the ride within the prescribed time limit to be eligible for medal and
awards.
222 kms – 15.00 hrs
333 kms – 22.30 hrs
444 kms – 30.00 hrs
555 kms – 37.30 hrs

19. Control Points: The routes will pre-defined Control Points to ensure that the riders pass
through those points without fail. These points may be manned or unmanned. For Manned
Checkpoints the riders must get their bib card stamped with date and time of crossing from
the volunteers. It’s the responsibility of the riders to ensure that their respective cards are
stamped as they serve as proof of crossing that point. They cannot blame the Organisers if
the Bib cards aren’t stamped.
20. Unmanned Control Points the riders can take selfie with any of the WCCG approved date
and time stamp mobile apps. Alternatively, the riders can produce ATM slips of that locality
clearly showing the Rider name and date & time of the transaction.
21. Organisers can also hold Secret Check points to ensure that riders do not deviate from the
prescribed route plan. Any Rider who fails to report at Secret Check Point will be disqualified.
22. Riders who complete their ride in time must present their bib cards to the Organisers at the
Last Control Point (End Point) for Validation. Upon successful validation of the Bib cards, the
rider will be commemorated with award and Title.
23. Riders who complete the ride outside the prescribed Time Limit will be considered as a
Finisher but will be marked as LF (Late Finish) and are ineligible for awards.
24. Any Rider who registers for the event but fails to show up on the day of the event will be
marked as NP (No Participation). Riders who are unable to complete the event due to
Fatigue/Sickness/Malfunction in Bicycle or for any other reason, must inform the Organiser
immediately. It will be responsibility of the rider to make arrangements to return back home.
The Riders who quit the ride will be marked as WD (Withdrawn).
25. Taking Shortcuts, taking other modes of transportation during the ride or indulging in any
activity which may put the rider in undue advantage position amounts to Fraud & Cheating.
Abusing fellow riders or misbehavior or riding dangerously or any undesirous acts will
amount to violations.
26. The Organisers are empowered to impose time penalties on the riders who are found to
have acted in minor violation the above rules. For all major violations the riders are outrightly
disqualified and will be denoted as DQR (Disqualified Rider).
27. The decision of the Organisers is firm and final in terms of quantum of penalties or
disqualification of a rider. Organisers will not entertain any arguments or disputes in any
manner from the riders.
28. All successful riders finishing any of the 222/333/444/555 will be titled Enduros and those
who finish these series within WCCG calendar year will be titled Epic Enduros.

29. By signing up for the Event the Rider agrees and consents for sharing their name along with
photograph and results to be published by the Organisers on Social Media. WCCG will ensure
that the rider’s data are protected.
30. The Organisers reserves their right to amend the Rules and Regulations as and when
necessary to protect the True Spirit of the Game.
