Health Department. This week consisted of continuing to work with various programs at the
district, shadowing a nurse at the Lawrenceville Clinic, and planning/ executing my final project.
Additionally, I attended a health fair event at McClure High School. While shadowing this week
at the Lawrenceville Clinic, I learned a lot about the vaccination schedule and the many vaccines
that are required to attend school in the state of Georgia. Prior to shadowing nurses, I was not
aware of the vaccine schedule and what is needed to be done if a patient has never had any
vaccines before. Luckily, there is a schedule to follow called a “catch up” schedule that the
nurses use to provide the patient with the proper vaccinations. After learning a lot about
vaccines, I wish that more people understood the role and the tedious job that it is being a nurse.

This week was the event of my final project. It was a bit stressful making sure that
everything was prepared correctly so that the event would run smoothly. Although it was
stressful, I am happy to say that my event went as good as it possibly could have! I am glad that
This week, a fellow colleague asked me to attend and participate in a health fair event at
McClure High School located in Norcross, Georgia. McClure High School is a science based
high school that allows students to have access to resources that they may use in the future. A lot
of the students that attend this high school are interested in a science-based career in their future.
It is important to educate these students on various different issues that are occurring around us. I
was responsible for representing the Gwinnett Newton Rockdale Health Department at this event
and educating the students on breast and cervical cancer. I educated the students on the
importance of being screening as well as the prevalence of breast and cervical cancer.
Additionally, I gave them some supplies so that there is no excuse to not be screened in the
future. I was surprised to find out that a lot of these students were not aware of the prevalence of
breast and cervical cancer. I am glad that I educated them so that maybe they will educate those
