○ Teach them about stories different parts, and what makes a good story. ○ Have students choose a mundane object (pen, book), and then write an adventure story from the perspective of their objective, 30-45 minutes. ○ Read a few out loud and allow students to ask questions. Discuss what worked well and what could have been improved. 2. Collaborative Story-Lesson Plan ○ Tell students they are going to create a 2-3 paragraph story. ○ Give each student 5 minutes to think of a story starter, then write 1 or 2 sentences. Each student trades their paper, reads their new one, then adds 1 or 2 sentences. Swap papers for 3 more rotations, then return them. ○ Have students discuss how their story changed based on the additions. Was the story different or the same as they’d imagined? 3. Fractured/Mixed Up Fairy Tales ○ Discuss setting and plot, show some short fractured/mixed fairy tales ■ Ex. Rocky and Bullwinkle ○ Explain what fairy tales are, and give examples ○ Put them into groups (or don’t), and give them random (fairy tales or prompts)
