Subject- JJ colony of near about 10000 people, suffering from a big water scarcity.
They are poor and ignorent about his rights in law. For the last two months there has been a
serious drinking water problem. Earlier the government used to send water tank on daily
basis. Water level has gone down.

Individual entitlements over water include a variety of rights of access to water, rights to use water, or rights to
use water-based resources such as fish. … This amounts to a usufructuary right to use a portion of the flow of a
watercourse.

The prior appropriation doctrine varies somewhat from state to state, although there are three general requirements:
(1) the appropriator must intend to apply water to a beneficial use, (2) the water must be diverted from a natural
course, and (3) the water must be applied to a beneficial use.
National Water Policy:-
Annual per capita water availability of less than 1700 cubic metres is considered as water stressed condition,
whereas annual per capita water availability below 1000 cubic metres is considered as a water scarcity condition.
Ways to improve Water scarcity:-
(1)Increase awareness and education about water scarcity.
(2)Invest in innovative technologies.
(3)Make agricultural irrigation more efficient.
(4)Improve water infrastructure.
(5)Reduce water pollution.
(6)Encourage water conservation.
(7)Developing water filtration systems. It’s one thing to have access to water, and it’s another to have access to water
that is safe to drink.
(8)Promoting water stewardship.
(9)Protecting stewardshi.
(10)Improving irrigation efficiency.
(11)Increasing water storage in reservoirs.
