Objectives:

Participation in this activity will increase the child’s ability to

1. Be able to sort the farm animals when asked

2. Be able to count the animals up to 7

Materials:
Farm animals

Pictures of farms with numbers on them

“Down on the Farm” book

Activity:

I will read the book to the group of children. I will encourage the children to

interact with me while I am reading the book by asking questions (ex. What animals

can we see on a farm? What other things can we find on the farm?). I will then

introduce the lesson to them that we will be using the farm animals to match them

up into the correct number of animals with the correct number on the farm

picture. I will ask questions throughout like; do you think that we could have more

animals in the farms that we are using?

What Happened:

Kaleo and Lucian were very good at counting and grouping the animals together.

Rachel needed some help with the number 7 so, I helped her.

All of the children were good with identifying the animals that I gave them.

What Next:

Have the children count up to 10.
