CEAB Graduate Attributes
Use of engineering tools: An ability to create,
select, apply, adapt, and extend appropriate

Building Engineering Systems

techniques, resources, and modern engineering
tools to a range of engineering activities, from
simple to complex, with an understanding of the
associated limitations. This attribute will be assessed
with selected questions from final examination. For
example, how to apply an algorithm (know which
algorithm and how to apply) to solve a particular
problem in the exam.

Lecture 1
CEAB Graduate Attributes
A knowledge base for engineering:
Demonstrated competence in university level

Building Engineering Systems

mathematics, natural sciences, engineering
fundamentals, and specialized engineering knowledge
appropriate to the program. This attribute will be
evaluated with a specific assignment problem. For
example, how to execute an algorithm and solve the
assignment problem.

CEAB Graduate Attributes
Life-long learning: An ability to identify and to
address their own educational needs in a changing

world in ways sufficient to maintain their competence
and to allow them to contribute to the advancement
of knowledge. This attribute will be evaluated with a
specific exercise.

CEAB Graduate Attributes
Communication skills: An ability to communicate
complex engineering concepts within the profession

Building Engineering Systems

and with society at large. Such abilities include
reading, and listening, and the ability to comprehend
and write effective reports and design documentation,
and to give and effectively respond to clear
instructions. This attribute will be evaluated with a
specific exercise. Able to describe the problem and
present your findings.

prerequisite knowledge

Lecture 1
Students are expected to be able to perform basic
mathematical manipulation. A math test was posted

Building Engineering Systems

on Moodle. It is the students’ responsibility to ensure
they already acquired the expected math skill by
testing their own knowledge with the test.

(solutions are given; just have to ensure you can do by

your own)

Course Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students shall be able to:
• Formulate problems based on available information

Building Engineering Systems

• Apply appropriate engineering tools to solve the problems
• Synthesize in-depth information from relevant sources
• Interpret analyzed results
• Organize information catered for the target audience
• Present work according to the imposed restriction
• Solve advanced building engineering system problems
beyond those covered in school
