PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING

Introduction

Education is a crucial aspect of one's life. It is the key to future success and a

plethora of options in life. It brightens a person's intellect and thoughts, for example.

Education in a particular field helps people think, feel, and act in ways that contribute to

their success and improve not only their personal happiness but also their community's. It

also helps people prepare for life's challenges. Students achieve a unique significance in

their own environment and wherever they live as a result of it.

Any society has the right to expect its citizens to make positive and constructive

contributions. When given the chance, private schooling plays a key part in meeting this

goal. Private schools focus on generating productive individuals who contribute

considerably to the larger well-being of their societies, in addition to creating students

with good academic backgrounds.

The process of collecting knowledge and information that leads to a successful

future is known as education. As previously stated, having a decent career, having a

decent social status, and having self-confidence are all benefits of having an education.

Education teaches us to perceive challenges as opportunities to overcome fear and try

new things. It is the guiding factor behind successful people and the achievements of

industrial countries. As a result, education is seen as a true success factor in any future

success.

Family Income- The combined gross income of all the members of a household who are

Learning Environment-A learning environment is a space where the resources, time,

and reasons are available to a group of people to nurture, support, and value their learning

of a limited set of information and idea

School Choice-Known as educational choice, is defined by Good and Braden (2000) as

the freedom for families to send their children to educational settings other than the one

public school within their attendance zone

Chapter II

REVIEW OF RELATED STUDIES AND LITERATURE

Doran (2017) point out that the “significant increase support for public schools is

encouraging” according to Weingarten’s statement, in apparent reference to finding that

the percentage of Americans who believe that public schools provide a “good” or

“excellent” education is up 7 percent from 2012.

Parental choice of schools has been a hot political issue for more than a decade. Choice is

a rather amorphous term describing a situation in which parents can choose the schools

for their children attend regardless of where they live.

Leon Guinto Memorial College, Inc. 7
Senior High School Department

Moreover, the intent of choice is to expand opportunities for all children to receive high

quality education, we researchers must consider whether choice programs would, or even

could, result in decreasing rather than increasing social stratification in schooling.

Schneider, J. (2017) added that perception also shapes the decisions people make about

where to enroll their children. If the quality of public education is generally poor, then

parents must compete for a small number of adequate schools – a competition that will be

won by those with the greatest access to resources.

(Khan, et al., 2015) in the process of learning, students, teachers, parents and institute

have their own importance. Especially family plays an important role in the academic

achievement and development of a child. The characteristics of a family such as

education, income, occupation and beliefs have an impact on the performance of child.

Reliable research studies indicate that parent’s socio-economic status is the best predictor

of student academic achievement.
