INTRODUCTION

This International Standard is one of a series which deals with flexible insulating sleeving for
electrical purposes.

The series consists of three parts:

Part 1: Definitions and general requirements (IEC 60684-1);

Part 2: Methods of test (IEC 60684-2);
Part 3: Specifications for individual types of sleeving (IEC 60684-3).

This standard consists of three of the sheets comprising Part 3, as follows:

Sheet 400: Glass textile sleeving with silicone elastomer coating: high breakdown
voltage
Sheet 401: Glass textile sleeving with silicone elastomer coating: medium breakdown
voltage
Sheet 402: Glass textile sleeving with silicone elastomer coating: low breakdown voltage

FLEXIBLE INSULATING SLEEVING –

Part 3: Specifications for individual types of sleeving –

Sheets 400 to 402: Glass textile sleeving
with silicone elastomer coating

1 Scope

This International Standard gives the requirements for three types of E-type glass sleeving
using either braided or knitted construction, with a continuous silicone elastomer coating and
differentiated by their breakdown voltage (sheet 400: high breakdown voltage; sheet 401:
medium breakdown voltage; sheet 402: low breakdown voltage). These sleevings have been
found suitable for temperatures up to 180 °C.

These sleevings are normally available in internal diameters between 0,3 mm and 25 mm. The

brown, green, green/yellow and natural.

om
sleeving is normally supplied in the following colours: black, grey, white, red, yellow, blue,

. c
x w
Sizes or colours other than those specifically listed in this standard may be available as custom
items. These items shall be considered to comply with this standard if they comply with the
property requirements listed in tables 2 and 5.
zf
. b
Materials which conform to this specification meet established levels of performance. However,
w
the selection of a material by a user for a specific application should be based on the actual

ww
requirements necessary for adequate performance in that application and not based on this
specification alone.
