National foreword
This British Standard is the official English language version of
EN 60684-3-400 to 402:2002. It is identical with IEC 60684-3-400 to 402:2002.
It supersedes BS 6893: Part 3: Section 400 to 402:1995 which is withdrawn.
The UK participation in its preparation was entrusted by Technical Committee

1 Scope
This International Standard gives the requirements for three types of E-type glass sleeving
using either braided or knitted construction, with a continuous silicone elastomer coating and
differentiated by their breakdown voltage (sheet 400: high breakdown voltage; sheet 401:
medium breakdown voltage; sheet 402: low breakdown voltage). These sleevings have been
found suitable for temperatures up to 180 °C.
These sleevings are normally available in internal diameters between 0,3 mm and 25 mm. The

Sizes or colours other than those specifically listed in this standard may be available as custom
items. These items shall be considered to comply with this standard if they comply with the
property requirements listed in tables 2 and 5.

Materials which conform to this specification meet established levels of performance. However,
w
the selection of a material by a user for a specific application should be based on the actual
ww
requirements necessary for adequate performance in that application and not based on this
specification alone.
