Topic: Vapour Compression refrigeration system

CO2: Students will be able to …….

Analyze performance vapour compression refrigeration system using analytical approach and
modern tools.

Q.No.1 A vapour compression system using NH3 works between -10°C and 25°C as BL 4
evaporator and condenser temperature respectively. Compare the C.O.P. of
standard VCR with the case when the vapour is superheated to 0°C before
entering compressor using P-h chart and using COOLPACK.

Q.No.2 A vapour compression system using R134a works between -10ºC and 36 ºC BL 3
as evaporator and condenser temperature respectively. Using P-h chart,
determine
i. COP
ii. Mass of refrigerant per TR
iii. Piston displacement per TR using volumetric efficiency = 83%
iv. Heat rejected in the condenser per TR
v. Ideal COP
Also determine i to iv using COOLPACK.
