To Whom It May Concern:

I take pleasure in writing this letter of recommendation for Collin Whitehead. I have had the privilege
of working with Collin for two years in multiple courses at the University of Arkansas including:
Teaching Strategies, Introduction to Professionalism, Classroom Management, Assessment, Teaching
Internship, and Seminar. Notably, I served as Collin’s university supervisor during his teaching
internship and can attest to the fact that he exhibits the technical skills and content knowledge needed
to be successful as a teacher.

As a teacher candidate, Collin has been interning at the Don Tyson School of Innovation in Springdale,
Arkansas. This school consists of approximately 4,000 students, with 67% of the student population
eligible for free and reduced lunches and 21% English Language Learners (ELLs). It is important to
note, that while completing his internship, Collin used the Arkansas standards to create meaningful
curriculum for multiple courses including Marketing Business Enterprise, Marketing Management, and
Introduction to Marketing. Additionally, Collin facilitated the Hylton Hangout, a school store and
coffee shop as part of the Small Business Operations course. This involved managing students’
schedules and ensuring that students demonstrated positive customer service skills while working at
the coffee shop. Through observing Collin complete his student teaching, I can verify that he has
grown in his abilities to facilitate learning experiences for his students and in his abilities to manage
the classroom.

Collin has experiences outside of the classroom which make him a well-rounded teacher candidate.
Serving as a lead instructors and camp counselor, Collin has many experiences in supervising middle
school students. He also has experiences in business and industry which will help him bring the
content associated with these courses to light in a meaningful way. Please accept this letter of
recommendation for Collin Whitehead. Knowing he will be a tremendous asset to your school and
community, I recommend him for this position. Feel free to contact me should you need further
information.
Sincerely,

Dr. Sheri Deaton
