HEART DISEASE
HEBREWS 3:12-13, HOSEA 10:2
The book oh Hebrews
 Written to a group of Jewish believers and they were in DANGER OF
DRIFTING AWAY. The author is writing to them, a warning as them
against drifting away..DO NOT DRIFT AWAY FROM THE FAITH.
 Chap. 1- about the Greatness of Jesus as compared to the angels
 Ch.2- How Jesus is greater than the Angels, this salvation that Jesu
offered us so great, it much greater than anything we have known
before.
 Chap. 3- Jesus is greater than Moses.Moses came and offered
promise to the people as He lead them ut of the land Egypt,lead
them out to exile into the promise land. Moses was just a stud. And
he said “ JESUS IS BETTER THAN MOSES”
“ CHAPTER 3- SERVES AS A WRNING TO US THAT WE SHOULD NOT FOLLOW
SUIT AFTER THE ISRAELITES, THAT WE WOULD NOT BE DISOBEDEINT IN
OUR DISBELIEF AND NOT INTER THE REST OF GOD.
Medical term:
SCLEROSIS-abnormal hardening of body tissue
ARTERIOSCLEROSIS-thickening and hardening of loss of elasticity of the walls
of artiries.
SKLEROKARDIAN OR CARDIOKLEROSIS- HARDENESS OF HEART.
Luke 6:45- Jesus preaches about the heart."OUT OF THE ABUNDANCE OF
HEART THE MOUTH SPEAKETH.
UNSA KAIMPORTANTE ANG ATUNG KASING2X SA PAG ALAGAD SA
GINOO..GOD WOULD BE THE CENTER OF OUR HEART.
The 3 words in the bible mentioned many times..
God- OT.: 3090 NT.: 1354
LORD- OT: 7234 NT: 712
HEART- OT: 725 NT: 105
Looking at Hosea 10:2- there heart is DIVIDED; NOW SHALL THEY BE FOUND
FAULTY.
Israel as a nation, divided its allegiance between JEHOVAH AND
BAAL and so became good for nothing and was given up to captivity.
GOD HAS MADE ONE HEART IN MAN, AND THE ATTEMPT TO HAVE TWO, OR
TO DIVIDE THE ONE IS IN EVERY CASE INJURIOUS TO MAN’S LIFE.
In any case this HEART-DISEASE IS A DIRE MALADY.. a broken heart is a
blessing; but a divided heart is a mortal malady.
I. POWER OF HEART DISEASE
:in Hosea 10:2- THEIR HEART IS DIVIDED
Hebrews 3: 12-13- EVIL HEART OF UNBELIEF
Idea of this:
1. In their idea of their state: they say they are Miserable sinners but
they believe themselves to be exceedingly respectable.
2. In the ground of their trust: They profess Faith in God, and yet they
rely upon self: they try to mix grace and works.
3. In the aim of life: God and Mammon, Christ and Belial, heaven and
the world.
4. In the decision of their will. They are never settled; they halt
between two opinions; they do not know their own mind: they have
2 minds and so no mind at all.
5. In the object of their love and loyalty. It is god and some earthly
love and loyalty.. they cannot say GOD ONLY.
The disease complained of is in the central fountain of life, and it affects
every part of their manhood. It is fearfully common, even in those who
make a loud profession. If not cured it will end fatally and perhaps suddenly
as heart disease is very apt to do.
Matt. 15:19- symptoms of heart disease; for out of the heart come evil
thoughts- murders, adulteries, fornications, theft, fake witness, slanderers.
Genesis 6:5- in every imagination of man’s heart was evil continually.
Medical term SKLEROKARDIAN- CARDIOKLEROSIS- HARDNESS OF HEART.
II. PREVENTION OF HEART DISEASE.
A. Continual Check-ups of our heart for God.
Heb. 3:12- TAKE CARE – command to look at. It means look intently,
examine closely.
What you we are to take care?
 If we can locate within our heart any sense of unbelief, a divided
heart that falls away from the living God.
B. Constant encouragement; v. 13- encourage one another.
Encourage everyone to help not to fall into this kind of disease..
Encourage everyone to walk in obedience:
Remember the context: that the Israelites failed to walk in
obedience.
Obedience is not always logical, it’s not always easy, its not always
rationa, but it’s always BETTER.
Everyone is encourage to help others to take forward steps of
OBEDIENCE.
C. Condemning self and yielding so much of heart to God.
Jesus gave His whole heart to OUR REDEMPTION AND THEREFORE IT
IS NOT CONSISTENT FOR US TO BE HALF-HEARTED.
The reason we are to do is given at the end of v.13- SO THAT NO
ONE OF YOU WILL BE HARDENED BY THE DECIETFULNESS OF SIN.
The heart that is hardened by a deceitfulness of sin falls away from
the living God.
So we need to encourage everyone to take forward steps of
obedience..
