(a) As a C/E make a dry docking repair list?


(b) Attached work for E/R personal concerning the work to be carried
out by dock.
(c) Work to be carried out by E/R personal.

Preparations:
(1) Prior to Dry-docking, information from Head Office must be
taken the estimated Dry-docking time, duration and whether annual dry
docking or special dry docking.
(2) Preliminary purpose "repair list" both for ship yard and
ship's staffs must be compiled.
(3) It according to the condition of machinery and under the
list of survey item.

Shipyard repair list:


(a) To give the dockyard the size and type of rudder,
measurement of pintle/bushes and jumping clearance. To remove if
necessary.
(b) The diameter of propeller boss, number of blades, inspection
and fairing up and polishing upon completion. To remove if special
one. The length and diameters of tailshaft, inspection on taper end,
overhaul of chrome liners, if to withdraw at special docking.
(c) The measurement of shaft drop and inspection of both
forward and aft seals.
(d) Numbers of sea auction chests and grids, their sizes.
(e) Number of sea suction valves, type and their bores.
(f) Numbers of shipside discharge valves, type and their bores.
(g) Numbers of storm and scupper valves, types and their bores.
(h) Numbers of zinc anodes and size to be renewed.

Ship's staff repair list


Numbers of piping to be repaired including their lengths, ID & OD,
bends, numbers of Flanges, PCD.
Numbers of E/R valves to be renewed or repaired and their bores and
types.
M.E overhauling preparations (1) spares (2) tools (3) measurement
(4) instruction manuals.
Auxiliary engines, boilers, pumps and other machineries overhauling
preparations.
Exact location of items to be repaired or overhauled must be made
by marking with tag labels with repair list codes both of shipyard and
ship's staffs.
Stores and spares requisition must be ordered for the concerning
machinery parts to be touched during dry-docking.
All tools must be marked with paints to prevent mixing with
shipyard's one.
Distribute work assignments among E/R staffs in group by group with
reference of exact location of parts by repair list.
Maker's instructions, manuals, all drawings must be kept ready for
prompt work.

Ballasting and transferring of F.O or ballast water to be carried out


to give required Trim & Draught while entering dockyard. (As per
request from deck department.)
All tanks soundings to be taken and recorded.
Sludge tanks and all drain tanks and all bilge wells to be cleared
up.
E/R tank tops to be hosed down.
All service tanks, settling tanks and high tanks to be pressed up.
Main air bottles to be pressed up full and tight shut.
All portable fire extinguisher to be kept ready at required places.
Fixed fire fighting installation to be locked as required by
shipyard's rules.
When afloat M.E crankshaft deflection readings to be taken and
recorded.
Boiler to be shut down.
Emergency generator, Emergency fire pump, Emergency air compressor
and emergency air bottle must be kept in good working order.
Shore supply cooling water for Refrigeration and air condition
plant must be ready to receive.
Shore electric power connection to be kept in good order and when
supply, check (1) phase (2) frequency (3) voltage (4) A.C or DC (5)
meter readings and at the time of connection and disconnection must be
taken and recorded.
Engineer to be alerted, ready to stop own generators as soon as
vessel enters dry dock & they pumping out water in the dock. The time
to be recorded.
Machinery parts to send ashore must be collected at convenient
places.

On dry dock
To present at the bottom survey carried out by the class surveyor
with C/E; captain; C/O& ship repair manager.
Inspections & checks to be made all the jobs performed shipyard &
ship's staff .All the measurements & readings to be taken & recorded.
Assist Classification surveyor's visits and his subsequent surveys.
All repaired machinery parts measurement to be taken and recorded
after completion.
Stern tube wear down limits to be checked whether within limit or
not.
Rudder pintle wear down and jumping clearance limits to be checked
whether within limit or not.
As soon as after completion of docking repair, all sea valves must
be inspected very thoroughly for leakage.
As soon as dry-dock has filled up water and all the sea chests are
immersed properly, all the generator engines to be run and test, after
satisfaction, shore power to be cut off and own power to be cut in,
the time also to be recorded.
All leakage and abnormality to be corrected before leaving dry
dock.
M.E crank shaft deflection readings to be taken and recorded again
and compare with before ones to check any dispute.
