Umiya Tubes Private Limited was incorporated in Gujarat on May 7 2013 under the
provisions of the companies Act 1956 with the Registrar of Companies. Pursuant to
shareholders resolution passed at the annual general meeting held on September 24 2015
the company was converted into a Public Limited Company and the name of the company
was changed to 'Umiya Tubes Limited' vide a fresh certificate of incorporation dated
October 1 2015 issued by the Registrar of Companies. The company is engaged in the
business of manufacturing of stainless steel pipes and tubes through the state of art
production units situated at Gujarat with total installed production capacity of 2040 MTPA
as on March 31 2015 and the company has also started with a production capacity of 2040
MTPA in the year 2014-15 and also increased its capacity to 2585 MTPA in the year 2015-
16.Today the company is manufacturing stainless steel decorative tubes and industrial
pipes which relies heavily on impeccable engineering and precision based
manufacturing. At Umiya Tubes the company aspires to design and manufacture of such
pipes and tubes that find applications in varied industries. The meticulously engineered and
quality checked products could serve such business and applications as chemical plants
dairy plants LPG products and also Electrical appliance instrumentation food & beverages
railways etc.
Rounded steel tubes and pipes are used in Automobile Industries, Food and Dairy
Industries, Sugar Industries , Chemical process Industries, Furniture etc.
Square tubes and pipes is ideal for all applications where greater strength and superior
corrosion resistance is required. It is widely used throughout the fabrication industry:
frame work, braces, trim, shafts, axles, fittings, instruments, gym equipment, awnings,
structures, and more
Rectangular steel tubes and pipes are used in frame work, support columns, gates and
fencing, handrails, protective barriers, roll cages, truck racks, and more

Inventory area is used for storage of raw material, finished products, different accessories,
tools, etc.

2. Manufacturing Department:
In manufacturing department raw material convert in to semi final product then it goes with
some process and convert in final product.
Figure 2-0-4
Inspection Department checks the product manufacturing on various machines as per the
protocol. Some products are inspected after every single operation and at each
developmental stage and some are inspected after certain processes are carried on it. The
products found incorrect with the standards are send to rework or sometimes the whole
product goes in scrap.

In this department the final finishing doing on steel pipe . packing of steel pipes in
bundles.
Firstly, the stainless steel strips are fed to the rolling mill. The strips pass through the
number of rollers as per the required size. In the rolling-mill, the strip is gradually
converted into the tubular shape. The fitted welding machine is then used to weld trim
edges of the strip using TIG welding process. The scraps and inside weld bead are
removed instantaneously by the Tibo machine. In this way, rolled pipes are formed.
Tig welding is use for wled the ss pipe in the manufacturing process.
In tig welding argone and helium gases are riqured. This company by this gases from out
side.
After this pipe is get their size and shape with thw help of rollers. Three types of shape
round, sqear and rectangular.
Step-3 The cleaning and water cooling:
The rolled stainless steel pipes thus manufactured are cut to the required lengths
depending upon the industrial demand. These stainless pipes and tubes are then subjected
to cleaning to remove the dirt.
Pipe coming from the rolling mill is very hot with the help of water cooling system this
pipe is cold out in this system. And going for the further process.
Step-4 straightening :
There are 6 straightening machines are in this company.in this machin helps to straight
the pipe properly. This is very important for finishing of pipes.
Buffing is use for finishing of outer surfaces of pipe. It is help full for shine finish on ss
pipe. Polishing is doing for mirror finishing.
In this step the inspectin is doing on the pipe for required size and shape. Then it is go
for final process.
The drawn out tube or Stainless Steel pipe is then subjected to cleaning. The
computerized ink jet marking is used to do the marking on the finished pipe or tubes. The
pipe or tubes is marked with grade of materials, size, heat number, and the stamp of third
party inspection before passing on to stainless steel pipe further process. The stainless
tubes or pipes thus produced will undergo certain testing and quality checks. This process
is followed by proper packing and dispatch. There are numerous applications of Stainless
steel pipe for which they are put to use.

This grade is check by the liqid which is called ss grade tester liqid. When we apply this
liqid on ss surface the color changes in to black is call 202, & color is green it call 304.
The rolls hold and rotate the tube while feeding it through the machine. This is carried
out until the entire or the desire length of the tube has been straightened. When the tube
passes through the machine, it is exposed to two straightening forces, namely, bend (or
offset) straightening, and pressure straightening.

My 12 weeks internship at Umiya tubes ltd. was more than a simple internship. It was an
opportunity for me to learn and prove myself as motivated student who is curious and eager
to learn anything in the company. It was also an opportunity to experience the working
industrial environment and different machine shops which really helped me to adapt
working conditions in the company.
One of the most valuable skills I developed was my versatility. In small companies, it is
common to work across various departments and that was exactly what I did over duration
of my internship. I had worked on all machine shops, designing work, supervision work,
maintenance of machines and production work.
I attended several meetings with clients during the inspection along with my industrial
mentor and other supervisors working there. As a mechanical engineering student, I was
told to first see all mechanical operations performed in the company and understand in
detail. I was open to ask any question to be asked to any worker or employee in case of
doubt.
than enough to make me feel comfortable with managing my work for some time when
supervisors were out of office. But I did more than just understanding mechanical processes
in company. I also learned drafting of different equipment on AutoCAD. My industrial
mentor taught me as much I could in the company and was very helpful.
The empowerment I received in my internship was one of the most rewarding aspect. The
supervisors and mentors trusted me and relied on me to et work done. So, it felt like I was
a truly valued work as a co-worker and not mere intern.
I am greatly humbled and thankful for all my co-workers and mentors at Umiya tubes ltd.
for providing me with the ability to develop personally and professionally.
4.3 Objective
It helped me built connections with people which I could not have made. Contacts
with wholesalers, vendors and clients definitely helped me to expand my network.
It taught me to learn me the mentality of workers and how they work. Also how to
handle them. Thus, it has developed the supervision sills in me.
To develop better understanding of the theories and strategies you have been
reading about, cementing the learning process and giving you greater focus.
Develop communication, interpersonal and other critical skills.
DURATION : 12 Weeks
Internship Details:
In early stage of internship intern would understand and learn about the basic of
umiya tubes products which are manufactured in the company. Intern will come
to know about the different processes used to manufacture a ss pipe and different
parameters of it.

5.3 Conclusion
This internship has been an excellent and rewarding experience. I can conclude that there
have been a lot I’ve learnt from my work at Umiya tubes ltd. Needless to say, the technical
aspects of the work I’ve done are not flawless and could be improved provided enough
time. As someone with no prior experience in manufacturing whatsoever I believe my time
spent in developing my skills in manufacturing, it was well worth it.Two main things that
I’ve learned apart from the technical aspects are manpower handling and supervising skills.
