TASK 1

Directions: Answer the question as precisely yet as thoroughly as possible.

1. The image below is an artwork of Vincent Van Gogh entitled: Starry Night. Discuss the
different perspectives base on the artwork presented below.

1. Cultural Perspective
Starry Night illustrates the scenery of an area
that has the same features dramatic night sky
and the silence of the night can almost be felt
in Starry Night. Starry Night can be
interpreted in many ways depends on the place
where you belong. One of which is that it
signifies hope for our culture and our society.
It seems that van Gogh was showing that even
with a dark night such as this it is still possible
to see light in the windows of the houses.

2.Historical Perspective
Van Gogh's painting The Starry Night is inspired by his immediate observations as well as his
imagination, recollections, and emotions. During his lifetime, he only sold one artwork, which
was purchased by his brother. During his 12-month sojourn in the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum
near Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France, Van Gogh created The Starry Night.
Van Gogh had acquired such a distinct distinctive style by the time he painted The Starry Night
that even a layperson could recognize his unsigned paintings. Van Gogh's masterpiece, Starry
Night, is widely regarded as his finest effort.
3. Personal Perspective
The painting itself elicits strong feelings in the audience. Contoured forms are a means of
expression in Starry Night, and they are utilized to portray feelings. The sky, which comprises of
these beautiful gleaming stars, a rarity in today's modern living, has a way of mesmerizing the
gaze of all who gaze upon the artwork. Many people believe that the night sky reflects van
Gogh's tumultuous struggle to conquer his disease. For me Starry Night symbolizes that even in
darkest point of your life, you can see the light with other people to guide you and help you
overcome of what you had been through.
