Pallet Deck

A Tutorial by François from: Torpoon Home Creation

OVERVIEW
90 TO 100 PALLETS

SEVERAL WEEKS

MEDIUM

TUTORIAL

GATHER YOUR SUPPLIES

• This terrace is about 30m², and I used between 90 and 100 pallets, so you’d better
be sure you can have almost unlimited amount of pallets!

• Among the hundred pallets I used, 32 were EUR pallets.

• All the pallets used for the base are EUR Pallets (in order to standardize), and the
boards used to cover comes from other construction site’s pallets.
• Tools needed: paper, pencil, hammer, handsaw, jigsaw, spirit level, drill driver,
sander.
• I realized this project over several weeks.

YOU’LL ALSO NEED

• Thousands of screws, piles of sanding paper, geo-textile, staples, a few pieces of

tile.

To finish, it is possible to color the wood with walnut stain, and feed it with a mixture of linseed
oil and turpentine (to be repeated every year to feed the wood). You could also paint it (visit
this page for all the tips) but I let you finish it the way you want.

STEP 4 STEP 5
Place small pieces of tile under the After removing boards from a lot of other
pallets to level one another. pallets, you will now use them to cover
the terrace. Set up the first "line" ensuring
that it is straight! Screw it and carry on this
step until complete coverage (yes it is
long and boring when you have 30m²…).

STEP 6
Finalize the formwork: setting form boards along the terrace to cover the base pallets and cut
the boards to edge perfectly.
Optional: during the construction it is possible to add lights to provide an added value at night.

STEP 8
Treat the surface of the deck with a vermin proof product. You can then use dark
walnut or other colors if you want, depending on your mood/style.
In my case, I feed the wood with a mixture of linseed oil and turpentine (to be
renewed each year to maintain).
