Blended Learning Lesson Plan

Lesson Title: Line Segments and Angles

Objectives:
Students will be able to draw points, lines, line segments, rays, angles and parallel and
perpendicular lines.
Students will be able to identify points, lines, line segments, rays, angles and parrell and
perpendicular lines in two-dimensional figures.

1. State Standards: 4.G.1 Draw points, lines, line segments, rays, angles (i.e., right, acute,
obtuse), and parallel and perpendicular lines. Identify these in two-dimensional figures.

Context: Why are you teaching this particular lesson? What comes before this lesson in the
larger unit? What previous knowledge will students be bringing into the lesson? What comes
after this lesson in the larger unit? What are you teaching in order to prepare students for the
next lesson topic? I will be teaching this lesson to teach students how to identify certain rays
and line segments in two-dimensional figures. Also, I will be teaching the lesson to teach
students how to draw certain line segments and rays. Before this lesson, I will be teaching a unit
on algebraic thinking and operations. In this unit, I will be teaching how to find multiples of
whole numbers. After this lesson, the next lesson is about classifying right triangles and
identifying the names of each triangle. Students must need to know how to draw and read a
coordinate plane. Also, students will also need to know how to draw a line and draw a segment
on a coordinate plane. After this unit, the next unit is measurements and data analysis. I am
teaching students how to read and draw coordinate planes.
Data: How will students be grouped in this lesson? What hypothetical data will these groupings
be based on? How will data be collected in this lesson for future groupings and teaching? The
students will be grouped in as a class to start the lesson. Then the students will be grouped
based on how well they are understanding the material. There will be stations throughout the
classroom and one station the students will be meeting with me. I will be collecting data based
on their understanding and completion of the assignment.
Materials: List all materials used (i.e. websites, apps, pencils, iPads, computers, worksheets,
diagrams, textbooks, etc.)
Students will be using different types of materials. For one station they will be using iPads to
play an educational game. This game would be found on math games, free to anyone. One
stations will have a worksheet with diagrams and drawings of coordinate planes.

Detailed paragraphs from here on down.

Procedures:
Introduction ( 5 minutes): This time will be for me to ask students if they know anything
about coordinate planes or line segment examples.

Teacher Directed (15 minutes): First, I will go over the lesson with the students through a
PowerPoint and practice problems. This will be a good time for students to ask questions.

Collaborative (15 minutes): Students will be working in groups and using worksheets and
practice problems to learn and understand coordinate planes. Also, this will help them
understand line segments and their names.

Independent Digital (15-minutes): This time will also be in a group, but the students will
be working independently at the station. They will be using iPads to practice their coordinate
planes and line segments.

Closure (5-minutes): Wrap up the lesson and answer any questions that students may
have.

Rationale: You must have at least two paragraphs (one for each mandatory piece of
multimedia)
(Multimedia 1= App or website): Why this piece of multimedia? How does it support
student learning and your standards and objectives? How do you know it is of high-
quality? Evaluate this multimedia against the LORI criteria in the 406: Evaluating
Multimedia module to support your rationale. How does this multimedia choice
differentiate instruction for all learners (consider differentiation and assistive
technologies)?
I personally like TED-ED because of the variety of information you can find throughout their
videos. They have a lot of educational videos no matter what the topic is. These videos are both
educational and fun for the students. Some students are visual or listening learners, so this is an
opportunity for these students to flourish. Before using any new type of new media, I would
research the resource you are getting your information from. This learning resource is different
from all other resources because it enables students to get a different source of information. This
makes the students more engaged and interactive with the lesson.
(Multimedia 2= App, website, video, educational game, song, podcast, etc.): Why this
piece of multimedia? How does it support student learning and your standards and
objectives? How do you know it is of high-quality? Evaluate this multimedia against the
LORI criteria in the 406: Evaluating Multimedia module to support your rationale. How
does this multimedia choice differentiate instruction for all learners (consider
differentiation and assistive technologies)?
Kahoot is an excellent resource for a review lesson. Kahoot is an interactive quizzing game. The
students can do it from any device with internet access. This resource is great for students to
being engaged and interactive in the lesson. This is great because you can personalize your
quizzes and it helps with reviewing for an upcoming test. This helps review the information from
the standards for the students. This resource is different from other resources because you can
make each quiz your own and personalize it for your class.
