The document summarizes the key differences between the SSS and GSIS social security systems in the Philippines. SSS covers private sector employees under 60 years old, including employers, employees, self-employed individuals, and OFWs. GSIS covers government personnel under 65 years old, including employees who have reached 65 but were under 65 when appointed. Both systems provide similar benefits like retirement pensions, sickness benefits, maternity leave, unemployment insurance, disability coverage, and death benefits. However, GSIS exclusively provides compulsory life insurance. The Limited Portability Law allows those who transfer between government and private sector to combine their years of service and contributions to qualify for benefits.
