Reflection

What I Have Learned:

My journey through the lesson enabled me to learn how Philippine Art survived despite the
history. It has demonstrated that it has been kept and enriched. Furthermore, I learned about the
enormous contribution of Philippine artists. They played a vital role in the shaping of how our was
today. With many individuals with outstanding abilities and skills who cherish its existence, it is no
surprise that Philippine arts are rich and have advanced significantly. It reflected the great artists’
creativity and talents. The lesson taught me to cherish our own and to feel linked to it. As I study art
history, my artistic side dominates me. It seems like I was transported back in time.

It made me realize that both traditional and contemporary arts must be valued. The former
served as the latter’s basis. Despite tremendous change and transition in Philippine art, the relevance of
the former has never disappeared. Instead, it grew more significant and more emphasized. Our great
artisans from the early time passed on their skills to future generations. The phenomenon resulted in
the spawning of a new generation of artists. They were referred to as modern or contemporary
craftsmen. However, we must now focus not on the contrasts but their significance. We must recognize
the importance of art in the preservation of our past. Art functioned as a victory scar, a survival medal,
and a crown of beauty.

I, therefore, commit to having active participation in the preservation and enrichment of our art.
I am an artist myself, inspired by the national painters. With the hope that I warm other people’s hearts
the same way they warmed mine, I must fulfill my oath. My promise is that I will keep and appreciate
our work. To begin, I will support local artists and artisans, as well as their local goods. This also allows
me to express my nationalistic side, as our art reflects our country.
