MICRO-PROJECT PROPOSAL

Subject & Sub Code: HRY (22401)

Title of micro-project : study properties of fluid on different types of fluids, prepare
comparative chart.

1.Brief Introduction :- fluids mechanics is a study of the behavior of fluids, either at rest
(fluid Statics) or in motion (fluids dynamiccs)
* The analysis is based on the fundamental laws of mechanics, which relate continuity of
mass and energy with force momentum.
*An understanding of the properties and behavior of fluids at rest and motion is great
importance in engineering
2. Aim of project :- The aim of micro-project is basic knowledge about different types of
fluids

MICRO-PROJECT PROPOSAL

Subject & Sub Code: HRY (22401)

Title of micro-project : study properties of fluid on different types of fluids,
prepare comparative chart .
1. Brief Description :- Pipes fluid mechanics is a study of the behavior of fluids, either at
rest/(fluid Statics) or in motion (fluid dynamics).
* The analysis is based on the fundamental laws of mechanics, which relate continuity of
mass and energy with force and momentum.
* An understanding of the properties and behavior of fluids at rest and in motion is great
importance in engineering.

2. Aim of project :- The aim of micro-project is that we were study about various types
of fluids & their properties of fluids .

3. Course outcomes integrated :

* Gain knowledge about fluids
* And their types.
* Learn that how are the fluids are specific.
* Know information about their types.

4.Actual procedure followed:-

1. First of all we select the topic of micro project
2. Then we collect the required information to complete the project
3. Then we get the laptop and prepared a micro project of hydraulic.
5. Actual recourses used:
Sr. No. Actual recourses used Quantity Remarks

1. Mobile 1 -

2. Camera 1 -

3. Internet 1 -

6. Outputs of The Micro Project:-

* Learn that how to prepare a chapter of fluids & their types.
* We collect information about various types of fluids

7. Skill Developed:-
* After completed to this project we can understood the property and types of fluids
* We can understood object of fluids
TYPES OF FLUIDS
Basing on the concept of different types of fluids are classified into nineth types.

1. Ideal fluid
2. Real fluid
3. Ideal plastic fluid
4. Non-newtonian fluid
5. Newtonian fluid

IDEAL FLUID
Cast Fluids which have no viscosity,no surface tension and which are incompressible is
called as ideal fluid.
* Ideal fluids are imaginary fluid and do not exist in nature.
*As water is incompressible,it is considered as an ideal fluid.

REAL FLUID

Fluids which possess the properties like viscosity, surface tension and compressible is called
as real or practical fluid.
* Whenever the motion takes place, the tangential or shears force is always offered by the
fluid.
* Example :- kerosene, petrol , castor oil, honey etc..

NEWTONIAN FLUID
The Newtonian fluid is the fluid in which the shear stress is directly proportional to the rate
shear strain or velocity gradient
*The linear relationship between share stress and the rate of deformation is called as
Newtonian fluid
Example :- water, air , glycerine, alcohol, etc .

NON-NEWTONIAN FLUID
The fluid in which the shear stress is not directly proportional to the rate of shear strain or
velocity gradient, is called as non-newtonian fluid.
Example :- point, blood, honey,etc.

IDEAL PLASTIC FLUID

The fluid which required additional shear stress and shear stress is directly proportional to
velocity gradient is called as ideal plastic fluid.
Example :- toothpaste

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF FLUID

1 :- density or mass density
2 :- specific weight
3 :- specific volume
4 :- specific gravity
5 :- viscosity
6 :- surface tension
7 :- capillarity

DENSITY OR MASS DENSITY

The "mass density per unit volume" is mass density.hence it has units of kilograms per cubic
metre.
Mass density of water is 1000kg/M3
P = mass/volume = m/v

SPECIFIC WEIGHT.
The specific weight of a liquid is defined as weight per unit volume at a standard
temperature and pressure.
Specific weight of water is 9810 N/m3(9.81kN/m3)
Y = weight/volume. = W/V = m.g/v = p.g

SPECIFIC VOLUME
Specific volume of a liquid is the volume of the fluid per unit weight.
It is the reciprocal of specific weight
Vs = volume/weight = v/w = 1/y in case of liquid

SPECIFIC GRAVITY
Specific gravity is the ratio of specific weight of fluid to the specific weight of a
standard fluid
Specific gravity (s) = y1/ye or p1/pw
For liquid, water and gases, or air is consider as a standard fluid
Specific gravity of water is 1 and for mercury is 13.6.

VISCOSITY

It is defined as the property of a fluid that offer resistance agains

sharing of one layer of fluid over another adjecent layer

SURFACE TENSION
The surface tension of a liquid is the property by which a fluid is
enabled to resist tensile stress.
It is due to the cohesion between the molecules at the surface of a
liquid.
CAPILLARITY
If a thin tube is deeped in a liquid then the liquid will rise or fall in the tube
this phenomenon is known as capillarit
