Module 3: Limits of Transcendental Functions

A.Express what you have learned in this lesson by answering the questions below.

1. What is a transcendental function

 It is a function that cannot be expresses as a sum, difference, product or quotient of the

different algebraic expressions. These function are expressed in trigonometric,
logametric, exponential, natural exponential and natural logarithmic function.

2. Explain on how will you solve for the limits of transcendental functions using table of values and
graph.

 For table of values,we should first get the right hand and left hand limit. To get the right
hand limit which is x values that are greater than the approaching value but is not
approaching value. For the left hand limit,we choose values that are less than the
approaching value but not the approaching though. Then we observe the y values
whatever the y values or f(x) are approaching as the x approaches the specific
approaching value and if they are equal we can say that the limit of the functions as x
approaches the specific value is both the right hand and left hand limit.
 For the graph,we only focus on the x value of the approaching value. We will then look at
the left hand side and the right hand side of the graph and see which y value, the graph
approaches as x gets near to the given number. If both left hand and right hand limit are
not the same or one does not exist then we can say that the limit of the function as x
approaches the given number does not exist and if the case is either in right or left
values only gets smaller and smaller but do not approach a specific value so we can say
that either left or right hand limit of the function is negative infinity.
