SECTION – A

1. How do you distinguish between crystal lattice and unit cell?
2. Calculate the mole fraction of H 2 SO4 in a solution containing 98% H 2 SO4 by mass.

3. Give two examples for zero order reactions.


4. What are micelles? Give one example.
5. Nitrogen exists as diatomic molecule and phosphorous as P4. Why?
6. Explain the structures of a) XeF6 and b) XeOF4

7. CuSO4 .5 H 2O is blue in colour where as anhydrous CuSO4 is colourless. Why?

8. Write two methods of preparation of glucose.


9. Which compound in each of the following pairs will react faster in SN2 reaction,

with OH?

i) CH3Br or CH3I ii) (CH3)3CCl or CH3Cl


10. Write equation for carbylamine reaction of any one aliphatic amine.

B) How is chlorine prepared by electrolytic method? Explain its reaction with
i) NaOH and ii) NH3 under different conditions.
21. A) Explain the acidic nature of phenols and compare with that of alcohols.
B) Explain the following with suitable examples:
i) Clemmensen reduction ii) Cross-Aldol condensation
