● 1954- Racial segregation of children in public schools was deemed unconstitutional putting an end to legalized racial segregation in
classrooms helping African American students.
● 1958- Federal program which aimed to further involvement in science, mathematics, modern foreign languages, and guidance helping
students overall.
● 1965-Federal funds given depending on the amount of poor children in a school district helping children living in poverty.
● 1972-Prohibited discrimination based on sex in education helping female students.
● 1975-Guaranteed free education for all children with a handicap helping children with disabilities.
● 1980-90- A movement from the 80s to the 90s that aimed to improve schools and teacher preparation helping students overall.
● 1982- A book written by Mortimer Adler to base curriculum on the Great Books helping students overall.
● 1983- National report about US education.
● 2001-Federal mandate for standardized testing in math and reading for grade 3 through 8, that holds schools responsible for scores
helping students overall.
