Writing
You are going to write a short magazine article. Read the notes below
about Daniel’s emergency rescue, and write a paragraph of 80 to 100
words.
2013, Daniel Jones travelling in Western Australia

• Visits Stirling Range, climbs Bluff Knoll, takes 3 hours.

• Arrives at top (early afternoon), bad weather (fog and rain), Daniel is lost.
• Daniel calls father (doesn’t want to call emergency services).
• Father calls Australian emergency services.
• Battery in Daniel’s phone is dead. Tired and frightened.
• 7pm: dark, cold, starts raining. Daniel waits under large rock.
• 8pm: emergency services find Daniel.

Remember!
Use the past simple and past continuous.
Ex: While Daniel was travelling in Australia he made lots of friends.
