Modification of SD-125V2 radio for DECODER System Board

The following document describe how to change the DB9 Male connector of the SD-125V2 with
the High Density DB15 Male connector. Please read all the instruccions first before you begin to
work. Don't forget to discharge yourself first and use the apropiate tools to avoid static electricity
damage.

1) Open the radio cover

2) Remove the Digital Board and unplug the DB9-Digital Board connector.
3) Remove the Shield Plate

4) Unscrew the DB9 male connector from the case.

5) Changing the DB9 with the DB15

The DB9 pins are the same of the DB15, i.e. Pin 1 of DB15 will be the same as Pin1 in DB9.

* Pins used for programming the SD-125V2 radio. Names here only showed for information.

Pins 10 and 11 of the DB15 will not have any physical connection to the SD-125V2.
a) Cut and sold the pins from the DB9 to the DB15.
To change the connectors, cut and solder pin by pin. This will avoid missconnections pins and
ensure that it will be not misplaced pins.

b) Connect pins 12,13 and 14 of the DB15 to the CON401 connector.

c) Sold the pin 15 of the DB15 to the 14 pin of the CON403 connector.
6) Screw the DB15 male connector to the case.

7) Put the shield plate

8) Screw the Digital Board and plug the DB15-Digital Board connector to CON401.
9) Close the radio cover

10)Check the radio

To check the new connections, the radio should be programmmed and verified. For the CH_Sx
connections, there should be 1K Ohm between each pin in the DB15 (12,13 and 14) and his
correspondig position in the DIP switch (4,3 and 2 respectively). Note that all the DIP switch
positions should be in off (not connected) as shown in the pictures.
