To Implement the IOT BASED ELECTRIC
VEHICLE BATTERY MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM
ABSTRACT
• To monitor and control the electric vehicle and
monitoring of battery parameters like voltage,
current and temperature.
• To find the State of charge and State of health of
the battery while charging and during discharging
i.e. when electric vehicle in operation.
• To measure Voltage, current and temperature data

Multimeter
EXCISTING SYSTM

• In excisting system we use only multimeter to

measure the voltage

• Otherwise we can check the electrical system

by starting the vechile and turning on the
headlights

• Sometimes we need to dismantle all the

batteries to find out the defected piece

DISADVANTAGES OF EXCISTING SYSTEM

• We need to remove the outer body or some parts

of the outerbody of the vehicle to check Battery
with the help of multimeter

• We need to go Service Center for any minor

charging issue because we don’t know where is
the fault

• They need to remove all batteries to find out the

CIRCUIT DIAGRAM
CIRCUIT DIAGRAM EXPLANATION

• The Voltage, Current and Temperature parameter is

sensed using voltage, current and temperature sensor.
• The output from the voltage, current, temperature is
fed to Arduino uno.
• If the parameter are greater then threshold value the
motor vehicle battery is cut off from the power
supply.
• The measured parameters are sent via WIFI module
connected with Arduino uno to display in monitor.

SIMULATION OUTPUT
HARDWARE
• Arduino
• Node MCU
• Voltage sensor
• Current sensor
• Temperature sensor
• DC motor
• IV sensor
COMPONENTS EXPLANATION
CURRENT SENSOR

• ACS712 Current Sensor Module can sense upto 30A of

current flow.
• Sensing and controlling the current flow is a fundamental
requirement in wide variety of applications, which includes
over-current protection circuits, battery chargers, switching
mode power supplies etc.
• The Current Sensor Module is based on ACS712 sensor,
which can accurately detect AC or DC current.
• The maximum AC or DC that can be detected can reach
30A, and the present current signal can be read via analog I
/ O port of a microcontroller or an Arduino.
VOLTAGE SENSOR
• This module is based on the principle of
pressure of the resistance points and can cause
the input voltage of the red terminal to reduce
the original voltage by 5 times.
• The maximum analog input voltage of
Arduino is 5 V, therefore the input voltage of
this module must not exceed 5 V x 5 = 25 V if
for a 3.3 V system, the input voltage must not
exceed 3.3 V x 5 = 16.5 V.
TEMPARATURE SENSOR
• The LM35 series are accurate integrated circuit
temperature devices with an output voltage linearly
proportional to the centigrade temperature.
• The LM35 requires no external calibration to provide a
typical accuracy of ± ¼ ° C at room temperature and ±
¾ ° Cover a full temperature range between 55 ° C to
150 ° C.
• The low output impedance, the linear output and the
precise intrinsic calibration of the LM35 device make
the interface for reading .
• The device is used with single power supplies or with
more and less sources.
WIFI MODULE
• ESP8266 is a Wi-Fi enabled chip system module
developed by the Express if system.
• It is mainly used for the development of integrated
IOT (Internet of Things) applications.
• The ESP8266 is capable of either hosting an
application or offloading all Wi-Fi networking
functions from another application processor.
• ESP8266 module comes pre-programmed with an AT
command set firmware, meaning, you can simply
hook this up to your Arduino device and get
information on monitoring device.
LITHIUM-ION BATTERY

• A lithium-ion battery is a type of rechargeable

battery in which lithium ions move from the
negative electrode through an electrolyte to the
positive electrode during discharge and back when
charging.
• Li-ion batteries use an intercalated lithium compound
as the material at the positive electrode and
typically graphite at the negative electrode.
• Li-ion batteries have a high energy density and
low self-discharge .
• They contain flammable electrolytes and if damaged
or incorrectly charged can lead to explosions and
fires.
ARDUINO UNO

• The Arduino Uno is an open-source

microcontroller board based on the Microchip
ATmega328P microcontroller and developed by
Arduino.cc.
• The board is equipped with sets of digital and
analog input/output (I/O) pins that may be
interfaced to various expansion boards and other
circuits.
• Arduino boards are able to read inputs - light on a
sensor, a finger on a button, or a Twitter message
- and turn it into an output - activating a motor,
turning on an LED, publishing something online.
