Introduction:
Tender Hearts child care center welcomes parental
involvement. We encourage parents to visit, participate in
school activities. Parties and field trips. We hav an open
door policy, which means you are welcome to visit as you
are able.
Teachers are always available to discuss your child’s
progress and needs. Conferences will be held with the
parents and child’s teacher twice annually upon request.
We enjoy letting the parents know how the day went.
Our Philosophy focuses on each child’s total
development. Our enriching atmosphere to enable each
child to develop socially, emotionally, physically and
cognitively. The children are provided-hands on
experiences and opportunities for learning and discovery.
They are encouraged to explore the world around them
through active exploration and directed activities.
Learning through play is the heart of our curriculum.
Classroom environments are designed for the children to
learn through active exploration and interaction with
adults, peers and materials.

Curriculum Overview

Tender Hearts curriculum that is used is the Creative


Curriculum. This curriculum helps break down activities
and lesson that are equipped to each child’s learning
ability. Using the creative curriculum helps organize and
create a daily and weekly schedule. The benefits with
using Creative Curriculum helps with children to promote
development and learning. Helps with social competence,
learning through play, creating rich environments to learn
from. Creating a strong bond.
Responsibilities of the program

 The responsibility and safety of the children well

 Administration duties to keep the daycare running

o Mentoring teachers

 Teaching and to help shape little minds

Responsibilities of the Family

 Engage in the child’s learning and capabilities

 Participating in classroom when and if necessary

 If child is sick the parents responsibilities is to stay


home.

 Report any violations or misconduct in child care


setting.
Program Policies

Discipline:

Our staff uses constructive and positive techniques


when it comes to disciplining. These include:
 Redirection
 Anticipation
 Modeling
 Natural consequences
 Elimination of potential problems

Staff will help teach children appropriate behavior and


will avoid punishing child for undesirable behavior.

If a child displays unprovoked aggression (biting, hitting,


kicking) toward another child or staff member, parents
will be notified.
Wellness:

All children enrolled must have a doctors physical


examination record and up-to-date immunization record
on file.

If child is sick the following must be met:


 Fever over 100.5 by mouth or 99.5 under arms
 Diarrhea
 Bad colds, discolored nasal discharge, persistent
cough
 Vomiting, stomach flu
 Ear infections or discharge from ear
 Eye discharge, bloodshot or swollen eyes
 Skin rashes
 Head lice
If a child is exhibiting any of the above symptoms will be
sent home and may not return until symptom free for 24
hours without medication.
Emergency Medical Policy Plan

If your child needs immediate medical assistance Tender


Hearts will call 911.
 We request your child be taken to the hospital that is
listed on his/her enrollment form, however; the final
decision is will be made by the paramedics.
 If your child is injured at the center the teacher who
is supervising your child will fill out an accident
report in detail what happened.
 The first aid received (ice pack, band-aid) and you
will receive a phone call if necessary
 If you receive an injury report please sign our copy
so we can keep it on file
Operation Procedures

Tender Hearts is open from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday-


Friday. We provide care for children ranging from six
weeks to 12 years old.

Arrival and Pick-up


 We do not allow any child to leave the center with
anyone other than the child’s person or the person
listed on enrollment form.
o When dropping off your child bring him/her into
the classroom, sign them in and take them to
their class.
o When picking up let teacher know, sign them
out, check cubbies for papers.
Finical Policy

Fees:
 Full Time Fees:
o Infant-Toddler- $130 weekly
o 2 and 3 years old- $110-$120 weekly
o 4 and 5 year old (pre-k)- $100-$110 weekly
o School age - $100 weekly
 The departments of social services of Burke,
Catawba, Caldwell counties provide childcare
subsidies for eligible families. Parents are responsible
for a copay and any other costs that is not covered.

Late Fee Policy:


 There will be a late charge of $2.00 per minute if
your child is picked up after 6. The late fee will be
paid to the teacher who stays after. If there is an
emergency and you cannot pick up your child, need
to contact immediately and no late fee will be
charged. Fees will be forgiven of an actual
emergency. Issues such as errands, going to the bank,
will not be forgiven and charged.
