Universal Design for Learning (UDL): I could address Universal Design for Learning principles to extend and
support the learning experiences for all students by giving them the opportunity to interact with the video
and display it visually or verbally if they desire. This will allow for students who have poor (or no) vision to
hear the audio rather than read it. I will provide an audio version to go along with the video. Though, my class
didn’t need one. I understand that some students may struggle with this activity, but I will allow for group-
work and they may ask for help/guidance when needed. This assignment is expected from everyone.

Lesson idea implementation: I will introduce this lesson by showing students the video that I created using
the green piece of paper (acting as a green screen), and using stop-motion. This will give students a better
understanding of how simple the tool is. Additionally, I will go over the assignment instructions and announce
that they may pick their own topic – as long as it’s introduced to me. This introduction will take about 2
minutes. I will assess my students by using a rubric, which I will hand out to the students so they know what is
expected of them. In order to extend the student learning to a higher learning level, I will have the students
create a minimum of 2 minutes video using the green screen, or stop-motion. I will conclude the lesson by
going over the negative effects of drugs, as this ties into my topic. I will provide feedback to by recording
myself explaining their pro’s and con’s on their assignment, and explaining how they can improve if needed.
Importance of technology: Maker technology is important for learning in Health and Physical Education
because it allows for students to get creative while learning. Creating assignments where the students are
having fun while learning new things is my goal. Unfortunately, this project cannot be completed without this
technology, because it allows for the creativity aspect of students creating a video with various effects and
backgrounds in order to succeed.
Reflective Practice: The activities used throughout this lesson are great ways for students to not only stay
engaged, but also get creative. The students will watch my video example and then discuss in groups what
they thought of the video and how long they think it took (they will be surprised at how easy it was to make,

just as I was). Then, I will allow them to pick their own topic that is related to the health fitness components,
which also allows them to practice group work and build collaborating and communication skills. To further
extend this activity I could have the students upload their videos into Seesaw, and share them with their
classmates. Here, they will comment on each other’s recordings. I will get permission from their parents if
needed. I will assess the students by creating a rubric where the students must follow to get a good grade on
this assignment. The rubric will be passed out to the class so they know what is expected of them.
