INQUIRIES, INVESTIGATION, AND IMMERSION

A. Guidelines for Oral Defense


Each group/individual paper presenter shall abide by the following guidelines:
1. The oral defense shall be on April 11-12, 2022. All presentations shall be conducted
through a Google Meet conference with the research adviser, panelists, presenters, and
group members. The times for presentation are given below:

2. Each group must be ready to enter the Google Meet virtual conference room 5 minutes
before the scheduled time to avoid delays in the presentation. All participants are
expected to observe proper online etiquette.
3. Each group may assign 1-3 members (regardless of role) to present the paper. All
presenters must be in corporate attire and in proper grooming.
4. Each group shall prepare a presentation composed of at least 15 slides (Title Page and
References included). Below is the prescribed content of each page:

1 Title Page (Research Title, Section and Group Name, and Event (INVQM
Oral Defense 2022), venue (Google Meet), and date (April 8-9, 2022).
2-4 Researchers (Names with Pictures)
5 Introduction (Section Page)
4-6 Rationale
7-8 Research Questions (only the major ones)
9 Methodology (Section Page)
10 Participants
11 Research Design
12 Measures
13-14 Procedures
15 References
The References page must include only the papers cited in the presentation, not the
whole paper.
5. Paper presenters shall observe the following Powerpoint rules:
a. Follow the 6/6 rule. Each slides shall not have more than six (6) lines of text and
no more than six (6) words in each of those lines.
b. Limit text colors to three (3) for each slide.
c. Limit graphics to two (2) for each slide.
d. Limit the use of animation to one (1) per slide.
6. The groups may use Canva to create better-looking presentation slides.
7. Presenters shall use the English language for the entire period of the paper presentation.
8. Each group is given at most 15 minutes to present their paper. A 5-minute question-
and-answer with the panel shall follow after the presentation.
9. There will be five (5) panelists who shall determine the “Best Paper” and the “Best
Presenter/s”.
10. The decision of the panelists is final and unappealable.
11. The groups belonging to the following time slots shall contribute for the snacks and
meals of the panelists:

12. The clustered groups shall assign 1-3 students to facilitate the preparation of the meals
and snacks.

Note: The meals and snacks serve as tokens of appreciation for the panelists who waived their
professional fees for the oral defense.

B. Group Outputs
The following outputs are required from each INVQM research group:
a. Draft of Preliminary Chapters (Submitted in Canvas already)
b. Plagiarism Report (Submitted in Canvas already)
c. Proof of Contribution (Submitted in Canvas already)
d. Draft of Research Questionnaire (Submitted in Canvas already)
e. Oral Defense Rating (To be given by the panelists)
f. Revised Preliminary Chapters (To be submitted after the oral defense)

C. Individual Outputs
1. The following outputs are required from each INVQM student (EL only):
a. Self-Introduction
b. Quizzes 1-3
c. Midterm Examination
d. Peer Evaluation
2. The following outputs are required from each INVQM student (HBL only):
a. Self-Introduction
b. Self-Check Answers with Explanations
c. Midterm Examination
d. Peer Evaluation
D. Submission of Outputs
All outputs (group and individual) shall be submitted on or before April 14, 2022
(Thursday). E-stubs shall be uploaded in the Google Drive folder which your professor will
create. Use this format for the file name: INVQM-SectionCode-FamilyName (Example: INVQM-
363-Lacaba).
Late outputs will be accepted but with corresponding penalties. Late outputs shall be
submitted via Gsuite: carl.lacaba@spsps.edu.ph.
